Last week we celebrated our fruit of the spirit students for September. September was all about kindness and Dante and Noah were caught be super kind!! Our fruit of the spirit for October is self-control; teachers will be on the look out for students showing self-control to be highlighted on our fruits of the spirit bulletin board and two of them will be recognized at our next assembly! Way to go, Dante and Noah!!

Our annual tradition of blessing our pets is guaranteed to be a student core memory as our students grow through the years and beyond! This year Deacon Johan helped us honor God’s creatures near the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. All were blessed, from favorite stuffies, to family photos, to a two week old wallaby named Spark Plug, to gerbils, dogs, cats, etc., and a pony named Oreo! Thank you God, for these beautiful creatures that bring us so much love and joy. 🐾♥️

Our students had SO MUCH FUN participating in the annual Walk-A-Thon fundraiser this year! We are currently at $10,000 (YAHOO!!) raised for our school, but there is still time to donate!! Follow the link below to help us reach our $12,000 goal! The link will close tonight (10/16)!

The 4th and 5th graders took a field trip to the Erie Canal today! They learned about its history and how the lock system works. This trip gave them some insight into more of the New York State history that is discussed in 4th grade. After their canal tour, they stopped for lunch at Powder Mills Park where they even got to feed the fish in the hatchery. What an exciting day!!

It was pumpkin day in first grade! Our first graders started the day out by carving a pumpkin, wrote sentences about "How to" carve a pumpkin, sorted the pumpkin seeds from the pulp, made predictions about the number of seeds in the pumpkin, counted the seeds using ten-frames (there were 259!!), and ended the day with a pumpkin volcano using baking soda and vinegar. Wow! What a great autumn experience, first grade!!

Ithaca's Immaculate Conception Church and St. Agnes School - Avon were among the many locations across the Rochester Diocese that took part in pet blessings on or around Oct. 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of nature and animals.

Our first graders are busy learning reading stamina! This is a crucial skills for students to learn as they get older. It will help them learn to love reading and also build their confidence in reading! Way to go, first grade!!
