On November 1, Waterloo Greenway will honor the beloved tradition of Día de los Mu***os. 🌼💀🌼

The Moody Amphitheater stage will be transformed into a community ofrenda. The most recognized symbol of Día de los Mu***os, these altars are created to welcome spirits back to the realm of the living. 🌹

Designed by José Arrieta Hinojos of , and supported by , visitors are invited to place images and decorations at the community ofrenda to honor those who have passed. 🕯️

“Alebrijes” are spirit guides represented in Mexican folk art as vibrant, fantastical creatures that often resemble dragons, lizards, and other mystical creatures. Visitors can honor and remember their beloved animal companions at a special pet altar designed by artist Nikki Diaz and supported by . 🐾

Roots & Wings Festival—Pollinator’s Pathways: A Monarch’s Journey
Saturday, October 17, 10am-12pm

Join us at The Confluence for a hands-on monarch adventure! Families will create their own monarch wings and then flutter their way through the park, following the incredible monarch migration from Canada to Mexico. Collect stamps as you explore and uncover the secrets that help monarchs along their journey. 🗺️

Help us tag monarch butterflies during their annual migration! We’ll start with a brief presentation on monarch butterfly migration and tagging techniques. Then, we’ll head to our designated tagging area, to carefully catch and tag your very own monarch butterfly! You’ll be contributing to important scientific research that helps us understand migration patterns and overall population health. 🔍

The small, sweet-smelling, white flowers are on spikes intermittently from May to October with their appearance arriving particularly after rain. 🌧️

Did you know? As the name implies, this plant was said to have once been used to treat kidney and bladder ailments. 🌿

Calling artists and makers! 🎨

Waterloo Greenway Conservancy is seeking artists to create public art for Sir Swante Palm Park! This art call is open to artists with ties to Texas, with a special welcome for Austin artists, and anyone with a connection to the park, Palm School, or the surrounding neighborhood.

A gathering place in Austin since 1933, Palm Park has been enjoyed by generations of families and communities. We’re honoring the many heritages that have shaped this neighborhood, its rich history, and the legacy of Palm School by seeking art that reflects the story of Sir Swante Palm Park and carries its legacy forward. 🌱

Selected artists will create two entry portals, a large-scale wall (80-100 feet), and seating, all integrated into the design of the park in collaboration with MVVA.

Interested? Know someone who would be perfect? No gallery or art degree is necessary, and public art experience is a plus. Learn all about our art call and submit an application by December 7 at our link in bio. 🔗
