From Tuesday, September 1 through Wednesday, September 30, grab an HEB bag (or bring your own - we would really appreciate it!) and fill it with items from our Party section for just $3! We have all the supplies you need for a celebration of any kind at a fraction of the retail price, and buying secondhand supplies instead of new helps keep useable items out of the landfill!

Our Materials Mobile stopped by Casey Elementary earlier this month to help their teachers prepare for a successful start of the new school year! During the visit, educators were able to select the materials they need to stock their classrooms at no cost to them, and we distributed an estimated 183 pounds of materials to thirteen educators, serving approximately 270 students! 🎒✏️📚

We're thrilled to be able to bring these materials directly to schools and save educators the trip of coming to our center and purchasing supplies out of their own pockets. We love being able to support educators so that they can support their students!

Our VISTA Summer Associates, Arafat and Hannah, have completed their service at ACR, and we couldn't be more grateful for their support this summer! 🌞

Arafat helped us build the capacity of our Education Programs, including supporting the Educator Extravaganza and improving our Materials Mobile processes. She even starred in several social media videos!

Hannah helped us build the capacity of our Volunteer Program, dug deep into our volunteer data, and shared the reuse love on a live segment of We Are Austin: https://cbsaustin.com/features/we-are-austin/sierra-and-ruby-get-crafty-with-austin-creative-reuse

Arafat is returning to school this fall, and we're excited for Hannah to officially join our staff, so you'll continue to see her around the center in the coming months!

We’re having a sale on our containers section! Every Thursday our containers are Buy One, Get One Free! That includes containers of any size, shape, or color in our containers section. We have items perfect for keeping your jewelry in, organizing your shoes, or for use as materials in your next art project!

Get Out The Vote with this month’s Summer Sunday! It was a celebration of civic engagement and sustainability. We had five different reuse artists vending on the portico in front of our center. We also had the League of Women Voters here to help Austinites get registered to vote and the Hispanic Austin Leadership Program had a “Write Your Representative” station using reuse materials. We had an advocacy button-making activity where old magazines and photos were repurposed into fun, wearable accessories that make a statement. Finally, our Reuse Artist in Residence, Charity Ridpath, hosted the first open studio of her residency in our classroom and invited participants to come create with her. All in all it was a wonderful day full of creativity and community.

Huge thanks to for hosting us at their Guadalupe Street location last week! We got to chat with customers about the beauty of creative reuse and our conservation mission and made block prints using old book pages!

We're delighted to be Wheatsville Food Co-op's Community Action Partner for the month of August! Donate gently used school supplies at both locations and round up your purchase at their registers to support ACR educators all month long!
