May 1 – May 24

The faces behind the stories. What started as a podcast is now an immersive exhibition that lets visitors see the faces and hear the stories of immigrants. Combining portraits with audio, each journey of survival, resilience, and triumph from around the world is captured through the lens of storyteller and photographer Walter Gallacher. Next to the portraits are QR codes that link directly to Gallacher’s podcast “Immigrant Stories,” creating a powerful multi-sensory experience that informs, inspires, and connects.

As part of the exhibition programming, the Colorado Refugee Speakers Bureau will present a series of guest speakers. Four speakers will be featured in total: two on May 14, from 6–7:30PM, and two on May 23, from 4–5:30PM. Speakers will share reflections on adjusting to life in the United States, including cultural differences, life in refugee camps, resettlement, and the reasons their families came here.

We are pleased to welcome Alberto Kersh to our team with Rocky Mountain Welcome Center! Alberto will be assisting our community as the newest Bilingual Therapist Intern (Spanish & English) and we're so glad to have him join our continued efforts to shine a spotlight on mental health for immigrants and their families.

Alberto comes to RMWC with several years of experience under his belt working as not only a Case Manager, but also as a Care Coordinator and is currently pursing his Masters degree in Social Work at DU. His "people-first approach" and passion for helping others through intentional therapy support will be a valuable addition to the team!
