DID YOU KNOW the AEP board and neighborhood captains hold quarterly radio checks/drills?

These quarterly drills provide AEP the opportunity to practice our radio communication skills to be better prepared in a community emergency event! We could not have accomplished this without the additional partnership with the Aurora Fire District and Canby CERT members who are just as passionate about preparedness.

Our most recent radio check in April allowed us to use our new GRMS radios purchased through our fundraising efforts and generous community donations! Thank you all for partnering with us to make this happen!!!

Do you have an interest in radio/ham communication or other emergency preparedness topics? Interested in learning more? We’d love to connect with you because we're always looking for volunteers to find their “niche” within the group.

Reach out to us through FB messenger or look for our information tables during Aurora Colony Flea, 1st Saturday, May-Sep, 9-4pm, as well as the Aurora Farmers Market, 1st and 3rd Saturday, May-Sep, 4-8 PM.

At our last meeting we had a quick refresher on what you should do if you come across downed power lines!!

IMPORTANT NOTES
# # # # # # # # # # # # # # #

Emergency alerts are sent out based on street addresses so it’s a good idea to enter the addresses where you live, work, attend school, etc, and this is especially true if you have vulnerable loved ones who are often away from you.

Note that you'll receive alerts based on the address(es) you provide when you sign up, NOT where you are at the time of the emergency!!

Also note that cell phones that aren't connected to a cell network will NOT get these alerts, and that includes phones that are turned off, in “Wi-Fi only” mode, in "airplane mode," or in an area without cell service

Are you ready? In light of the recent event in Canby yesterday and orders for those nearby to shelter in place, this is a good time review YOUR shelter-in-place plan. Here is a link to Marion County's check list:
