Via Cognitive Health Via Cognitive Health (formerly Jud C. Hickey Center) Programming & Resources for Alzheimer’s/dementia Via Cognitive Health (formerly the Jud C. The result?

Hickey Center for Alzheimer's Care) is a local, non-profit organization that offers research-based day programming for individuals diagnosed with adult cognitive decline to engage in mental and physical exercise, plus socialization, in order to promote a higher level of cognitive function for longer. Our members and their care partners are able to maximize their quality-of-life post-diagnosis. They can live, play and work more freely in our community as the Via Cognitive Health helps them navigate the disease and mitigate its effects on daily life for as long as possible.

Two groups at very different stages of life are helping each another. Our Via Cognitive Health members found purpose in restoring bicycles, and now these bikes will help young adults build independent lives with the Bridge Builder Communities. Six young adults aging out of foster care will be moving into this new tiny home community that is designed to give young people the support they need to grow into independent living.

Many thanks to Phil Cohen with Chain Reaction and our generous supporters that helped get this program off the ground!

Today we honor the profound loss of someone who shared every holiday, every birthday, every high and low across more than 60 years of marriage. We are holding our dear friend, Paulwyn Boliek, close as he remembers his wife, who would have been 89.

Paulwyn gives so much to our members and staff through his kind heart, thoughtful observations, and generous spirit.

This week, we placed a bench in the open green space beside Via in her honor. It stands as a quiet place for reflection, and as a testament to the love they shared. We are deeply grateful for the meaningful gift that made this tribute possible, one that will bring comfort and connection to so many.

Growing purpose, one pepper at a time.

This Via member harvested a beautiful pepper from our garden, which is a part of the 18 raised beds our members care for each week. At Via, hands‑on activities like gardening create joy, connection, and healthy habits. Every seed planted is a step toward purpose, accomplishment, and nourishing nutrition. 🌱💛
