Consumer Council System of Maine A mental health advocacy organization providing a voice for consumers of mental health services.

•The Consumer Council System of Maine (CCSM) is an independent, public instrumentality established by Maine law (Title 34-B, §3611).

•The CCSM is responsible for providing an independent and effective consumer voice into mental health public policy, services, and funding decisions. The CCSM consists entirely of past/present recipients of mental health services (consumer/peers), including all Statewide Consumer Council representatives and paid staff.

The Consumer Council System of Maine is hosting a Summer Bash to celebrate the incredible people who make our work possible. Whether you are a member, a volunteer, a staff member, or a family member, you are a vital part of our community and we want to celebrate that with you!

Where: Lake St. George State Park
278 Belfast Augusta Rd, Liberty, ME 04949
When: August 27th, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
💰 Admission: $5 for adults (13–64); Free for seniors (65+).
📝 Note on Fees: We are committed to making this event accessible. Reimbursement forms will be available on-site for anyone who needs assistance with the entrance fee.
🧺 What to Bring: This is a classic park hang! Please pack your own snacks, drinks, towels, swimsuits, and beach chairs or blankets.

Big Picture Monday
Trauma is not always an isolated event that happens to a single person. Through systemic injustice, such as generational discrimination, displacement, and institutional bias, trauma can echo across generations.

When we evaluate someone's mental health, we cannot separate their symptoms from their ancestry or their current treatment by society. Healing requires treating the roots, not just the leaves.

By acknowledging generational trauma, we shift our focus from "What is wrong with you?" to "What happened to you, and your community, over generations?"
