Malala Yousafzai was one of the highlights of the Rotary Convention in Taipei today. Malala spoke fondly of having grown up in a Rotary family with her dad and his friends as Rotarians. “Service Above Self”, a Rotary slogan, has been the foundation of her life’s work as an activist and it shows! She encouraged both big and small steps as an advocate, but also highlighted self care along the way. She was honest about her own journey with mental health, finding joy, and prioritizing relationships all as necessary to be better at serving others.

Having Malala on the main stage to kick off the year of Rotary was inspiring and validating for sure.

Rotary Club of Auburn’s President-elect, Brandee and past-President, Jeff shared fellowship and Rotary with The Rotary Club of Chiayi South in Chiayi, Taiwan. P Rubber and PE Brandee exchanged Club flags and the Ambrosias gifted PP Shoes a club t-shirt for being such a wonderful host and travel guide.

Sharing Rotary and service with wonderful people around the world is confirming of the power and depth of Rotary. The global friendships and shared vision is evident as Rotarians from all over the world start to convene for the International convention in Taipei this weekend.

President-elect and past-president, Brandee and Jeff Ambrosia have made their way to Taiwan in advance of the Rotary International Convention next week. Jeff and Brandee met up with fellow Rotarians from The Rotary Club of Chiayi South to have some fish head stew and turkey rice, two of the region’s most well known foods.

This meet-up was particularly special because it involved the meeting of our club’s exchange student’s parents and other members of their club..

Like the Rotary motto says, “Unite for good”.

Safe travels Jeff and Brandee!

What a fantastic day at the Rotary Club of Auburn Golf Tournament at Black Oak Golf Course! ⛳️

From putting games and tennis ball challenges to a giant sombrero contest, there was plenty of friendly competition and community spirit.

The shot of the day belonged to Giacomo. On the dogleg Hole 6, he launched the ball nearly 350 yards over the trees and landed both of his drives side-by-side within striking range of the green. For most of us, it would have taken three shots to get there. It was one of those moments that stopped everyone in their tracks.

A huge thank you to our sponsors, players, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this event a success:

Thank you to everyone who came out, played golf, volunteered, donated, sponsored, and helped make the day such a success. Enjoy the photos and future videos!

P.S. Happy Birthday to Dr. Dan. The mastermind behind it all.
