Morningside Lenox Park Association

Morningside Lenox Park Association MLPA is the neighborhood association for a thriving in-town Atlanta area filled with wonderful homes, shaded parks, great schools and terrific neighbors.

Our neighborhood is a thriving in-town area filled with wonderful homes, shaded parks, an award-winning elementary school, and terrific neighbors. We have great restaurants, shops and neighborhood events. Morningside/Lenox Park Association could not continue the success without the valuable volunteers we have each year. We also have great pride in our Morningside Security Patrol. We would like to

ask ALL Morningside/Lenox Park Residents to join the MLPA along with MLPA Security. Without MLPA Members, our neighborhood could not be where it is today. Please join us each month for our monthly meetings to learn more about what you can do to help our Neighborhood stay one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Atlanta to live.

FIFA IMPACT ON SECURITY PATROLS IN MORNINGSIDE
Please understand that FIFA will impact the security coverage provided by the MLPA Morningside Security Patrol from mid-June through mid-July. Because APD officers will be on 12-hour shifts, they may not be available or willing to take on additional off-duty assignments.

The Morningside Security Patrol is staffed by a team of 12 officers, including 3 retired/reserve officers who maintain full police powers, and 9 active-duty APD officers. Because most of our staffing comes from active-duty officers, these 12-hour shifts will directly affect coverage in our neighborhood.

We are optimistic about maintaining coverage for the majority of shifts. Daytime patrols and vacation home checks will likely be covered; evening and late-night patrol coverage may have some gaps.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep the neighborhood informed as more details become available.

If there are problems with parking, crowds, rowdy behaviors, etc., for an event in Piedmont Park that interferes with safety and movement on your street, do not hesitate to call 911.

10:00 to 11:30 a.m
Begin/End at Morningside Farmers' Market (1411 N Morningside Dr)

Pam and Jim Auchmutey have graciously agreed to lead upcoming Neighborhood History Walks this summer for neighbors! The pair are currently mapping out a “highlights” route featuring some of the neighborhood’s most interesting historic sites, designed to last approximately 60 to 90 minutes.

Pam and Jim are longtime volunteers and tour guides at The Wren’s Nest in Atlanta’s West End. Jim, a former reporter for the AJC, has a longtime passion for reading and writing about history.

Along the route, participants will learn not only about the history of Morningside and Virginia-Highland, but also about the important events, preservation efforts, and historic markers that help tell the story of Atlanta’s growth and transformation through the decades.

A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Atlanta Ballet + MLPA
Atlanta Ballet is partnering with MLPA to offer MLPA members discounted tickets to the beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker, during the 2026 season.

Through a collaboration with Atlanta Ballet Group Sales Manager Kate Biddle and MLPA Events Chair John Hults, MLPA members will soon have access to special promotional codes offering discounts of 10%, 20%, or 25% off select performances. Discounts will apply to up to four tickets per order and will be valid across seating levels 1–6.

Performances run throughout December, with matinee and evening shows available on select dates from December 5 through December 26. Group discounts allow members to avoid many of the additional taxes and fees typically associated with Ticketmaster purchases.

Atlanta Ballet’s The Nutcracker is one of Atlanta’s most cherished holiday traditions, featuring dazzling choreography, elaborate sets and costumes, and live orchestral music. Families, friends, and neighbors are encouraged to take advantage of the special pricing and enjoy a festive outing together this holiday season.

Stay tuned for ticket codes, performance links, and additional details!

Help Wanted! Morningside Nature Preserve
We need your help maintaining and bettering the Morningside Nature Preserve, a prized gem and our neighborhood's only recreational greenspace without an active Friends of the Park group.

The 33.1-acre Morningside Nature Preserve was established in the early 2000s after residents saved the land—originally known as the Wildwood Urban Forest—from residential development.

Did you know?

Threatened Development: In the late 1990s, the land was purchased by a developer with plans for a residential project.
Community Action: In 1999, the Wildwood Urban Forest Committee was formed by neighbors to stop the development.
Funding and Purchase: The community raised $150,000 from about 600 households. Support from the City of Atlanta ($1.3M+ in park impact funds), the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation ($150k), and the Georgia Greenspace Fund ($300k) enabled the purchase.
Establishment: The area was saved and officially renamed/organized as the Morningside Nature Preserve in 2006.
Features: The preserve, which features a suspended walking bridge and a popular "dog beach," connects to a larger network of nearby greenspaces via the South Fork of Peachtree Creek.
Today, the preserve is a vital urban forest, providing hiking trails and a natural habitat for wildlife in the city. The formation of a Friends of the Park group is the most effective first step in creating positive and long-lasting changes in a community park; they are park users (and community and business leaders) actively working to improve a greenspace.

Join fellow community neighbors in preserving the natural beauty and tranquility of one of our city’s most treasured greenspaces. Email [email protected] to help!
