Our Front Door Produce fundraiser is back! You can purchase a 20 pound box of fresh produce for $35. Proceeds from this fundraiser help us keep our activities and competitive events affordable for participants.

To order, use the link below. You will have the option to order a box for yourself, or you can choose to donate a box. This link will be available until November 2nd.

Hello, everyone.

We are sad to announce that our 4-H Agent, Cason Howard, will be moving to the Southwest District to become the Mitchell County 4-H Agent. While we will miss him here in Walton County, we know that he will "Make the Best Better" for Mitchell County's 4-H'ers!

To send him off, we will be hosting a popsicle party on Monday, July 27th from 1 to 4 p.m. Come by the extension office to wish him well on his next adventure!

Hello, everyone!

We are getting ready to begin our Forestry Judging program! Students will learn about Georgia's forestry industry by learning to identify different trees native to Georgia, as well as the insects and diseases that threaten them.

This free program is open to 4th-12th grade students. Students will meet every Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. until September. The first meeting will be on August 3rd.

Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps State Member

Oconee County Extension is accepting applications for a full-time AmeriCorps State member (ACM) to serve the local 4-H program. ACMs members provide 4-H positive youth development programming.

This is a temporary, national service position (not a traditional employment position) requiring a one-year commitment. It is a direct service position that requires transport of youth and some night and weekend hours.

ACMs receive a variety of benefits: monthly living allowance ($2,075), free health insurance, and education award ($7,395) upon completing hour requirement (1,700 hours). Other benefits are available based on eligibility (childcare assistance, loan forbearance). High School diploma or equivalent and valid driver’s license required. Experience providing youth development programming and a general knowledge of 4-H is preferred.

Walton, Bulloch, Banks, Carroll, and Bartow Counties are representing Georgia this week at the National Shooting Sports Championship in Grand Island, Nebraska! The Georgia delegation is ready to bring home the gold. 🍀🥇
