Yesterday, Girls on the Run Georgia Executive Director Maria Elena Miller and volunteer coach and Young Professionals Board member Anetra Briggins stopped by WANF's ATL Live to share how our program helps girls in grades 3–8 build confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop important life skills.

For years, we’ve seen the impact of Girls on the Run in real time. Now, we have the research to show what lasts. We’re excited to share Lasting Impact: The Girls on the Run Alums Study — a landmark, third-party research effort that strengthens evidence of the long-term impact of our program.

Alums report using Girls on the Run strategies in middle school to manage emotions, navigate friendships, build confidence, and handle new challenges. The findings reinforce the impact of our intentional curriculum and trained coaches and show that girls continue to apply skills learned years after participating in the program. What a great way to kick off the 2026-2027 Girls on the Run Georgia Young Professionals Board year!

This weekend, our Young Professionals Board came together for their annual retreat, where they had the opportunity to welcome new members, connect with returning members, and strengthen the relationships that will help guide them throughout the year.

Together, they spent time learning more about Girls on the Run Georgia's mission, exploring new ways to expand our impact, and brainstorming exciting ideas for the year ahead. We are so grateful for each member’s passion and willingness to invest their time and talents in empowering girls across our communities.

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to visit the Morgan Stanley office for our 3rd annual volunteer day together!

Their incredible team rolled up their sleeves to prep activity sheets and pack accordion folders for our upcoming fall season, helping ensure our coaches have everything they need.

With such a large group of volunteers, the work flew by, and we left feeling so grateful for their time, enthusiasm, and continued partnership. Thank you, Morgan Stanley, for investing in our mission and helping us get ready to inspire more girls across Georgia this fall!
