6:30p update!

Phew busy day, just now posting, but we have plenty of healthy rescued food for you!

Come shop rescue over retail. Save money, save the planet. And stick it to the wasteful corporate food system. You know, the usual.

Here until 9p!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Somebody commented this morning on our IG post:
"Would it be possible to come up with a different payment option for single people? I went to shop but the volume per unit is so high."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
You do NOT have to get all 32 bananas if they are priced at Qty 32 = 1 unit!

You can mix n match across all sections at FoodCommune!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Take just 8 bananas if that amount is all that you want ... which would be 1/4 of a unit ... then add other things into the bag to complete your unit.

Eg, If blueberries are Qty 4 cartons = 1 unit, then 3 cartons would be 3/4 of a unit.

Therefore, 8 bananas + 3 cartons blueberries = 1 unit.
🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌 + 🫐🫐🫐
Or, 8 bananas + 1 carton blueberries + 5 pantry cans = 1 unit.
🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌 + 🫐 + 🥫🥫🥫🥫🥫
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for being conscientious about taking only what you will use without wasting. This principle is actually a very important tenet of this organization. 👍
-----------------------------------------------------------------
And always remember: Even if you get less-than-full units (eg, you put just 20 bananas in a bag instead of 32) ... and/or you get fewer than 5 units in a given crate ... you can still come out way better than if you bought those same food items at a retail grocery store! 💲

Just make sure that, ... for the food that you choose at FoodCommune, ... you are paying less than what you would be paying for it retail! This way YOU WIN! 🏆

🟤 JICAMA will all be FREE today! We have 36 heavy crates to share. If you are nearby, drop by and grab some. No limit! No monetary donation whatsoever needed.

🫐 Blueberries will be a good deal, as we have 48 flats to share.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Also: bell peppers, corn on cob, tomatoes, salad kits, cucumbers, bananas, eggplants, purple cabbage heads, onions, kiwi berries, etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now that the weather is cooler ... and we are rescuing the dinner trays again ... ALWAYS bring tupperwares with lids if you want to get any of the dinner food.

We did a group pu from JT at Food2Life on Friday evening 10/9/2026, our 1st one since early August.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
See 2 pics here of the 2 teams that got this pu done that night.

1) Thank you to these 5 people ... Love, Michael, Alonzo, Marshall, and Jim ... for helping to load on Friday evening for 1 hour 7--8p. 💪

2) Then the Terrific Trio of Lyn, Lidia, Candace did the unload at Candler for 2 hours 8--10p. 💪
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Other folks here in Atlanta besides these 8 people, pls join us in doing this work!

Too much PERFECTLY GOOD FOOD is being wasted in our society. We need more hands on deck, so that we can be intercepting more of this food before it ends up in the landfill. 🙌
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you JT for providing so much great produce for us to distribute at FoodCommune this evening! 🦸
