From collaborations with Oglethorpe Museum of Art and Georgia Tech, to a sold-out performance of "Up Close & Personal", to our anniversary concert "Collective Memory", and to the 33rd Modern Atlanta Dance Festival (and lots of other amazing things in between), it's been a wonderful 35th season!

Today is the day! The first night of the MAD Festival is this evening at 7:00pm at Emory Performing Arts Studio. We are so excited to showcase the diversity and excellence of Atlanta's dance scene with six performances by Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company, Graham Shelor Dance, Hayley Newell, Madison Lee, Medina Dance Collective, and host company Full Radius Dance.

We also have a performance tomorrow! The Saturday evening performance of the MAD Festival will be ASL Interpreted. Please contact us at [email protected] to reserve a seat with unrestricted access to the interpreter.

MAD Festival begins tomorrow! Here’s a look at how to get from the Gambrell Parking Deck to the Emory Performing Arts Studio.

Parking is free of charge after 5:00 PM. There are numerous accessible parking places within the deck.

The entrance to the theatre and lobby are on North Decatur Road. There are five steps leading to the theatre and lobby. There is a ramp to the left of the stairs that also leads the theatre and lobby.

Douglas Scott, founder of Full Radius Dance and the MAD Festival, will be presenting the work entitled Origins of Grace at this year’s MAD Festival! Full Radius Dance is the host company for the MAD Festival and we are so excited to present this work alongside an incredible slate of dances from Atlanta dance artists.

Created by Douglas Scott and Full Radius Dance in 1995 to showcase the diversity and excellence of Atlanta's dance scene, the festival is one of the only professionally juried dance festivals in the Southeast. The festival builds community for local artists and companies and cultivates new audiences through the festival format.

Meet Graham Shelor, artistic director of Graham Shelor Dance. He will be presenting his work entitled Degenerate at the 2026 MAD festival! This work examines artificial intelligence and the creative process.

MAD by the numbers!! 📚

2026 marks the 33rd Modern Atlanta Dance Festival. Through the years, we’ve welcomed more than 230 companies/independent artists and over 930 dancers to the MAD Festival stage.

The MAD Festival has been presented at 8 different venues throughout its 33 year history, including Agnes Scott College’s Presser Hall, the Conant Center for the Performing Arts, Balzer Theater at Herren’s, and Emory University Performing Arts Studio.

We presented two festivals in 2002 - one in theatre and, later that same year, outdoors at Woodruff Park.

The fifth festival had a number of 'firsts' - the festival moved to an adjudicated format from an open festival, new location at Conant Performing Arts Center and first appearance of the combined companies of Dance Force, Inc. and E=motion, now named Full Radius Dance!
