We believe that everyone deserves to be safe in their homes and in their relationships, and that love shouldn't come at a cost of abuse or control. Some of our services include Project Safe’s

confidentially located emergency shelter serves people of any gender identity who are experiencing domestic violence. Project Safe’s Outreach services are accessible to those who may not need confidential housing, but still need support in leaving an abusive relationship. There is a bilingual advocate who works at both the Shelter and Outreach to provide services to Spanish speakers. Our legal advocates can help file a TPO (temporary protection order) or provide emotional support in court. To access any of our services, a person must reach out to our 24/7 Hotline 706-543-3331 or our 24/7 Textline 706-765-8019. Project Safe also offers presentations and has volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals.

It may not look like much, but there's a story behind every photograph, and this one's a doozy! This weekend, two staff and our shelter residents set out on an adventure to cool off in the pool. The only problem is, the first pool they went to was closed. Undeterred, they moved on to to the next...also closed! Finally, our intrepid adventurers found success and got settled in at the final pool attempt!

While our residents and their kids splashed and swam, the two staff members accompanying them frantically blew up as many pool floats and toys as their lungs could handle to help keep everyone safe and relaxed. After a relaxing couple of hours at the pool, our group moved to a nearby park and enjoyed a picnic lunch together while getting to know each other better and discussing their journeys so far and where they go from here.

At Project Safe, we don't stop when we reach an obstacle, we persevere and find a way to reach our goals so that the survivors we work with can live their lives free of violence and fear, even when it's something as simple as getting in the pool!

This weekend will mark one year since opening the Project Safe Thrift Store in Danielsville, and we want to celebrate the enthusiastic welcome we received and continue to enjoy from this community! We are so thankful for all of our donors, volunteers, shoppers, and other supporters who have helped this location be successful in its first year, and we look forward to many more years of empowering survivors of domestic violence together.

We hope you'll join us on Saturday, August 22, from 11 AM-6 PM, for a celebration of this anniversary! We'll have local vendors for food, beverages, and a cake walk, along with a 25% off sale for the entire store! So come on out and join us at 295 Sam Groves St, Danielsville, this Saturday for savings, treats, and celebration!

In just one month, on September 19th, Groovy Nights Retro Lip Sync Battle will once again take the stage at the VFW! Nine teams of Athens' raddest, coolest, and grooviest people are currently preparing a show for you that you absolutely do NOT want to miss! We'll see some familiar faces and some new friends, and they are all performing to support Project Safe's work empowering survivors of domestic violence. Doors will open at 7:00 PM and the show starts at 8:00 PM, with food from some of your local favorites included in the ticket prices and beverages available for purchase to help you get into the dance party spirit! Tickets are available at the Linktree in our bio, we look forward to seeing you at Athens' awesomest event of the year!

Thank you to our friends at Kitty House Collective and Normaltown Brewing Company LLC for hosting the Closet Reset on Saturday! We had a great time and loved seeing so many Athens vendors come together to promote sustainability and empowerment of survivors at a local business!

We have teams competing from all over town, from Women in Construction to DanceFX to Piedmont Athens Regional and everywhere in between, and they all need YOUR support as they work to earn the raddest award in Athens: the Groovy Nights Audience Favorite Award! There will be opportunities for clothing swaps, upcycling, alterations, tie-dye, and more with the proceeds going towards Project Safe's work empowering survivors of domestic violence! So come on out, have a pint, and get your closet back-to-school ready!

Thank you to our friends at Athens Academy football for helping us to get our Transitional Housing Unit cleaned up and move-in ready for a new family to move in after a previous long term resident moved out! Your hard work helped us provide a safe and comfortable place for a survivor and their family!

It's time for Groovy Nights 2026! On September 19, new and returning teams alike will take the stage at the VFW and deliver a Lip Sync Battle for the ages! The grooviest, raddest, hits from the 70's, 80's, and 90's will be going from start to finish, food from some of your favorite local eateries will be available, there will be a photo booth, and the dance floor will be hopping, all in support of survivors of domestic violence!

Groovy Nights is a competition, and YOU can help choose the winner! The Audience Favorite Award goes to the team that receives the most votes. Each votes is only $1, and you can vote as many times as you like. So break out your tie dye, bell-bottom jeans, and aviators and click the button below to join us for a night of groovy fun that you'll never forget!
