When people work for change, they often hear the same response: “Good luck.” Sometimes it’s genuine encouragement. Other times, it’s an expression of doubt.

After months of correspondence, advocacy, and working through challenges, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM), alongside our community partners at UUFA, is celebrating meaningful progress toward restoring on-site jail visitation at the Athens-Clarke County Jail.

The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our community for making the 2026 Juneteenth Music & Arts Fest a success!

This was our third year hosting this celebration of freedom, culture, resilience, and community. Despite a few unexpected twists and turns along the way, we remained committed to seeing our vision through—and together, we did just that.

We are truly grateful to every volunteer, vendor, performer, sponsor, donor, supporter, and community member who stood with us throughout this journey. Your encouragement, dedication, and presence helped make this event meaningful and memorable.

Juneteenth Music & Arts Festival an event created “For the people, by the people.”

Join us from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Georgia Square Mall as we celebrate culture, community, freedom, music, art, food, and fellowship. We hope to see you there.

May 4, 2017, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement began to commemorate the Athens’ Day of Jubilee annually on May 4 - the day freedom came to thousands of enslaved people in Athens following the arrival of Union troops in 1865.
