It's one of the questions people are quietly asking across Appalachia, and the honest answer is that the research is early, unfolding, and complex. On Monday, September 28, Alanna Collins joins Hollers & Horizons for an honest conversation about Appalachia, addiction, and unconventional recovery paths. Free and virtual, everyone welcome. If you or someone you love is struggling, the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline is available by call or text, and the Fireside Project offers peer support at 623-473-7433.

This month's speaker is Alanna Collins, from .

Alanna is the founder of Truth is One Interfaith Church 501c3 and has dedicated her life to studying sacred plants and spiritual practices from around the world. She is a visionary, ceremonial facilitator, professional artist, change agent, and vessel for music as medicine. She has undergone various trainings, including living in the Amazon of Brazil, various Peruvian dietas, and has studied with world-renowned medicine carriers such as Davi de Paula, Alonso Del Rio, and Edyta Ponikeiwski. Alanna is a unique practitioner whose formal background is as a psychiatric registered nurse, where she worked in hospitals and treatment centers. She now offers alternative healing modalities for those who wish to transition from pharmaceuticals and for those seeking support with addiction and recovery using plant medicines. Alanna is the founder of an artist collective known as "Medicine Woman," where she uses music as a platform for social and environmental initiatives through practical action and service.
