As North Texas Giving Day draws to an end - I reflect on today and am so very grateful for the support of everyone. Even though I had an emotional setback today, I still haven't forgotten that I can't do it without your help. I would not have been able to take Benny to the vet today and pay the $400 vet bill without your donations. I would not be able to TRY without your help. You make my heart full of so much love and appreciation. Thank you for helping me and thank you for helping the kitties. We need you and we are grateful that you care about us!

This is the part of rescue no one talks about that much. Today I took a 5 week old kitten to the vet with a lame leg and an extra large tummy. The xrays showed only fluid in the abdomen - you couldn't see anything else -no organs, no stomach - nothing - just a ball of fluid. His knee was strained trying to hold up that tummy. We suspected FIP. The vet wanted to draw out a little fluid and send it off for testing. The fluid for sure looked like FIP. Benny became very fussy and I left with a treatment plan. On the way home - Benny wasn't acting right and he bit me very hard and then passed away quickly. I drove home numb - not believing that this precious boy just died. When I got home and took him out he was indeed gone. Im crushed to my soul. I just wanted to help him feel better. Its days like this that make rescue feel very heavy. I will keep pressing on and I will keep trying to help, but today I cry for the sweet boy I couldn't save.

Update on the 5 new intakes in my other rescue -A New Start Maine C**n Rescue. The meds are starting to work - they are starting to settle down. Stardust is recovering well from her surgery! The rest of the crew goes in for their surgeries on Tuesday, Sept 8th. They will get spayed/neutered, combo tested, vaccinated with fvrcp and rabies and microchipped. They will receive a Nexgard Combo flea treatment.
They will have to have their undersides shaved while sedated -the mats are too bad to remove.
All of this is very expensive! Please donate if you can!
