These amazing grandmas showed us that it's never too late to try something new, have a little fun, and make beautiful memories! After two weeks of practicing and preparing, our elders took to the runway at the 2026-27 Green Bay Hmong New Year Fashion Show, and they absolutely ๐—ฆ๐—›๐—œ๐—ก๐—˜๐——!

They are so adorable! We are so proud of them! Here's a little glimpse of their time on stage at the 2026-27 GBHNY!

What do we inherit? And what do we choose to pass forward?

Join People of Progression for The Inheritance Project : Understanding History. Strengthening Families. Shaping the Future. โ€” a two-day summit bringing together community members, families, advocates, educators, healthcare and public health professionals, students, researchers, service providers, and leaders from across sectors.

Featuring award-winning author and scholar Dr. Stacey Patton, Ph.D., weโ€™ll explore the connections between history, family systems, childhood experiences, intergenerational trauma, community health, and the well-being of future generations.

This is more than a conversation about the past. Itโ€™s an opportunity to better understand what we have inherited, how it continues to show up today, and what we can intentionally strengthen, heal, and change for those coming after us.

It feels like just yesterday we were tilling the soil, preparing the garden, and planting the first seeds. Now, weโ€™ve reached our final harvest of the season. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ’š

But the work doesnโ€™t quite end here! Our elders are already gathering and saving seeds from this yearโ€™s garden to prepare for next yearโ€™s growing season.

This little garden has brought our elders joy, purpose, movement, and connection while allowing them to share fresh, organic produce with our community.

Any remaining produce will be available at ๐—ญ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—Ÿ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—–๐—ต๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ต for the community, ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ, ๐—ด๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ป.

Our elders were some of their biggest fans & supporters, even attending the musical to cheer them on! Tonight, they welcomed Rasami and Kyu back with open arms, gifts, congratulations, and a special potluck style dinner to celebrate their accomplishment. And Rasami finally got her flowers, the flowers she so deserved. A beautiful reminder of how proud her elders are of her and how deeply she is loved and appreciated.

New Hmong would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the individuals and organizations who generously sponsored tickets for our elders to attend Lee Lue The Musical, a production inspired by the experiences of the Hmong people during the Secret War in Laos and a history marked by war, sacrifice, loss, displacement, survival, and incredible resilience.

For many of the elders we serve, this is not simply a story from history.

Many experienced the war firsthand. They survived it, escaped it, left behind everything they knew, and eventually rebuilt their lives here in America from the ground up, all with the hope of giving their children and future generations a safer and better life.

For some of our elders, it was their first time seeing a musical, sitting in a theater, then seeing pieces of their lived experiences represented on stage was deeply emotional. They shared that parts of the musical were triggering, bringing back painful memories, but that the experience was also healing. Through their reflections, one message stood out: despite everything they endured,

At NEW HMong, our work with elders goes beyond providing programs and services. It is about supporting their overall well-being, creating meaningful connections, preserving their stories, and reminding them that

We want our elders to look at the generations who came after them and know that their sacrifices mattered. Their strength and resilience helped make the lives we have today possible. The opportunities we have, the communities we are building, and the ability to preserve and share our stories are part of the legacy they created.

And for that,

This experience holds an additional special connection for our NEW Hmong family. Our Community Program Coordinator, Rasami Moua portrays Jou's Mom in the production, while her son, Kyu San Juan, portrays Lee Lue's student and child soldier.

None of this would have been possible without those who stepped forward to help our elders experience this important production.
