Know What to Look For

Human trafficking is often hidden in plain sight. Three possible warning signs include:

-Someone else controls the person’s identification, money or communication.
-The person appears fearful, anxious or unable to speak for themselves.
-They are not free to leave their work, home or current situation.

🚨 THIS IS HAPPENING IN OUR BACKYARD.

We cannot bury our heads in the sand.

A major five-day Florida operation has recovered 163 missing children — ranging in age from just 2 months to 17 years old. Authorities say many had experienced abuse, neglect, exploitation, or exposure to criminal activity, and officials reported that some were victims of human trafficking. Twenty-one children were recovered in the Orlando area alone. (Florida Department of Law Enforcement)

This is why awareness matters. Human trafficking and exploitation do not only happen somewhere far away. They happen in our communities, our neighborhoods, and around the people we love.

At The Lifeboat Project, our message is simple:

🛑 STOP IT. Report suspicious activity.

Awareness can lead to action. Action can save a life.
