🌸 Two For One Member Monday!

Some people make a difference through what they do, and others make a difference through the way they make people feel. Rita and Judy do both!

These two wonderful ladies are the perfect example of what AWC is all about. Their kindness, generosity, humble spirits, and fun-loving personalities make them such a joy to be around.

Together, they turned a City of Apopka grant into something truly special, bringing creativity, compassion, friendship, and a little extra love to local nursing home residents. And while the grant may have ended, their commitment to serving others certainly hasn't!

We are grateful for their big hearts, their willingness to jump in and get things done, and the friendship they bring to our club. Rita and Judy, you make AWC better just by being you! 💗

Hey Apopka! Please help the AWC with this food drive for CARING HANDS OF APOPKA! Together we can make a huge difference and share some comfort, friendship and gratitude during this season. Shoutout to Cafe Verona for collecting the non-perishables! Just throw another can in the cart next time you go grocery shopping and drop it off at Cafe Verona or at our next Woman's Club meeting.

🐾 It’s National Cat Day! 🐾

Today, we celebrate the furry little supervisors who contribute absolutely nothing to the household chores but somehow manage to run the entire operation. 😹🐈

From knocking things off tables to demanding treats like they pay the bills, cats certainly have a way of keeping us entertained!

🌿 MEMBER MONDAY: Meet Charlotte White! 🌿

Some members serve in the spotlight, and others work behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Charlotte White does it all! 💗

A former club president, Charlotte continues to make a difference in our club and our community through her many volunteer activities. She serves as our webmaster, maintains our club yearbook, and helps keep us on track with our bylaws. Her dedication, knowledge, and willingness to serve make her an invaluable part of the Apopka Woman’s Club.

We are so fortunate to have Charlotte as part of our AWC family! 💐

Charlotte, thank you for the time, talent, and heart you pour into our club and our community. You are a wonderful example of leadership through service! 💚

Apopka! You showed up and you showed out! What an amazing Halloween in the Park on a perfect Saturday! of Apopka Government Apopka Parks and Recreation Department Thank you to the city and to all those who supplied and manned the booths. Thank you to the entertainers, the food vendors, and to those who donated. Most of all, thank you to the families who came together to celebrate community. The Apopka Woman's Club had a blast!!

🍂 Full House. Full Agenda. Full Hearts. 💗

Our October meeting was a wonderful reminder of what makes the Apopka Woman’s Club so special! We welcomed new visitors, filled the room with fellowship, and filled our donation tables with candy, books, canned goods, and so much more. 💗📚🥫🍬

We were also proud to welcome our guest speaker, Diane Velasquez, an Apopka Woman’s Club member who serves as City Councilwoman and Vice Mayor, whose leadership and commitment to our community make her a wonderful example of service in action. 💗

We took time to honor our Volunteers of the Year for our nursing home grant project, celebrating the incredible members who share their time, talents, and hearts to make a difference in the lives of others. 💐

With Halloween in the Park, our Christmas party, and the Apopka Christmas Parade on the horizon, there’s plenty to keep us busy! From serving our community to making memories together, our members are showing up with generous hearts and a shared commitment to making a difference.

✨ This club year is off to a strong start, and we’re just getting warmed up!

💕 STOP SCROLLING, LADIES! Your smiling faces are needed! 💕

Our next Apopka Woman’s Club meeting is October 20, and we can’t wait to gather together for another time of friendship, fellowship, and service! ❤️

We’ll be collecting for Halloween in the Park (bring candy!) and for Caring Hands of Apopka (see post from Friday)at this meeting, and we are so grateful for your generosity. But as important as those donations are, the most important thing you can bring is YOU!

Bring your beautiful smile, your warm heart, and your willingness to serve others. Together, it’s the little things we do with love that make a big difference in our community. 🌸

President Diane Harrison, as Team Leader of the Clay Springs Good News Club, became aware of this need at a Volunteer breakfast the school was doing for the GNC as well as other volunteers. She approached Ms Muchow and asked how AWC could help. She learned that transportation and shipping costs were needed. The matter was presented to the board and approved right away. We are so proud the AWC had a hand in getting these kids much needed equipment. Well done!

Clay Springs Elementary physical education coach Aden Jackson, after spearheading a donation project for Jamaica last school year, shared his love for and ties to the Caribbean island nation with members of the GFWC Apopka Woman’s Club on Wednesday.

Jackson’s Wednesday presentation followed a $350 donation from the club this spring to cover the cost of shipping donated sports equipment to three primary schools in Jamaica. Jackson and his family have longstanding connections with Penlyne Castle Primary School in particular.

“Both my parents taught at this school. My father was the principal, and he served at that school for 39 years,” he said. “My mom — she also taught at that school for about 32 or 28 years…And I have a sister — she resides in the U.K. now — she taught at that school, and I grew up — I attended that school, and I also taught there before coming to America.”
