Free and Secure Document Disposal for NVDS Members Only

Bring up to 25 boxes of your old patient records, business files, and personal documents to be safely destroyed. (No X-rays).

*Register by June 5* (No walk-ins)

The Northern Virginia Dental Society has contracted with Shred Instead, a secure document destruction company, to shred and dispose of all your old patient, office, and business records (no x-rays). You are also invited to bring any personal documents to the Shred-A-Thon event.

Virginia law states, "A dentist shall maintain complete, legible, and accurate patient records for not less than six years from the last date of service for purposes of review by the board with the following exceptions..." View the exceptions.

In lieu of a fee for this shredding service, please consider volunteering 4+ hours at our Northern Virginia Dental Clinic in Fairfax or Sterling, or making a small donation to help our clinic continue to care for the underserved. Volunteer or donate today.

Join your colleagues for one of the Society’s most anticipated evenings of the year at the next Annual Business Meeting Dinner & Installation of Officers on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Falls Church Marriott Fairview Park.

This celebratory event will begin with a reception, offering time to connect with colleagues before the formal dinner and program. This special event brings together NVDS members, leaders, and guests for an evening of fellowship, recognition, and celebration as we reflect on the past year and look ahead to the Society's future.

* Presentation of the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Frank R. Portell, honoring his extraordinary service and lasting contributions to organized dentistry

* Approval of the Society’s annual business matters, including leadership elections and key reports

Our guest speaker, Spencer Sullivan, U.S. Army combat veteran and author of "Not Our Problem: The True Story of an Afghan Refugee, an American Promise, and the World Between Them", will share a compelling story of leadership, resilience, and service that promises to make this year’s program especially memorable.
