A word from our executive director, Bradley Saxon

Just know people act different towards you around certain people because they talk different about you to certain people. God will prepare a table for you in the presence of these people. Keep eating! The enemy is just using them to try to tempt you to resurrect a dead man. Leave him in the grave and keep walking in the newness of life. This is why it’s so important to know that Christianity isn’t solely about God discovery, it’s equally about self discovery! Lord, I’m thankful for new mercy that comes every morning. Today, I ask that you direct my thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self pity, dishonest, and self seeking motives! The enemy has been disarmed (Col 2:13-15). I don’t want to continue to be held hostage with a gun that has no bullets! In other words, believing a lie is what gives him power in my life. I’m thankful for vehicles God uses to get me back on track and focused on Him. This allows me to be very choosy concerning the battles I fight. When I’m not aligned, I tend to fight battles that have no spoils and in doing so I turn my peace over to people, places, and things. That diminishes my usefulness to others. God help me to remember daily that MY REAL PURPOSE is to FIT MYSELF to be of maximum service to You and the people about me shewwwweeeeeeeeeee

LESSONS IN THE FLOWERS by Shirlnan Thomason
As many of you know, we completely transformed our yard, removing every shrub, flower, and bush to start anew. We’ve since planted numerous flowers and shrubs, including a few hydrangeas from a local big box store. They tempted me with their vibrant pink and blue blooms, but as soon as I put them in the ground, they began to struggle, with wilted leaves and faded flowers. They looked pitiful. Today, I was tired of looking at them. I decided to prune away the dead stuff even if I killed them. I honestly thought they would end up in the trash.
I pruned away the dead leaves and blooms, and was amazed to discover new life was sprouting beneath. This experience reminded me of our guys in recovery at The Bridge, who often appear worn and weary, but with guidance and support, they can discover new life and growth. Just as the hydrangeas required pruning to revitalize their roots, our program helps individuals trim away the obstacles holding them back, allowing their true potential to flourish. The moral of the story is that we should never judge a person (or a flower) by its outward appearance, for with God’s direction and the right care and support, anyone can experience a transformation and discover new life.

PS - I recently found out that not all hydrangeas are made to live in the dirt outside. Second lesson is to place yourself where you belong. I’m happy to say that my Annabelle hydrangeas from a local nursery are thriving…

A word this morning from our Executive Director, Bradley Saxon

"Telling a drug addict or alcoholic to just not use or drink as a solution is like taking a handful of laxatives and then trying not to p**p when the urge hits you. I'm sure you're laughing because you know the outcome of that solution! Often, people can make well-meaning remarks to others based on ignorance that were meant to be helpful, but in reality, they caused more harm! One of the greatest lessons I've ever learned was that I didn't have to have all the answers to everyone's problems. That sometimes it was okay to say I don't know, but together we can seek out the best possible means of help for you! Remember, what meets the eye isn't always the problem, but often just a manifestation of something that runs way deeper shewwweeeeeee"
