Anderson Indiana Scholar House

Anderson Indiana Scholar House Anderson Scholar House helps single mothers graduate from college or a certified apprenticeship program. Our outcomes speak for themselves.

ASH provides stable housing, coordinated childcare, help with school admissions and financial aid, and coaching all they way through to graduation. Anderson Scholar House Indiana opened in January 2022, as an affiliate of Family Scholar House in Louisville, Kentucky. Family Scholar House was born from Project Women, an organization originally established in 1995 by representatives of six orders of

nuns. What began with only four families is now a recognized national best practice headquartered in Louisville, KY, serving more than 30,000 people annually and focused on education as a primary path for ending the cycle of inherited poverty. Anderson Scholar House provides stable housing, coordinated childcare, help with school admissions and financial aid applications, and provides a life coach and an academic coach throughout the entirety of the program. Programs and services are delivered through a two-generation model responsive to the needs of families and are provided for all ages. Participants have an 88% completion rate. Three months after leaving the program, 70% of participants no longer require any government assistance. This is especially impactful considering all our families had experienced poverty, unstable housing and, most often, domestic violence. You are eligible for Anderson Scholar House if you are a single mother who has their high school diploma or GED, who is interested in completing a post-secondary education program, and who is in need of housing. If you do not yet have your high school diploma, we can help you with that too. All JobSource services are provided without regard to race, age, color, religion, s*x, disability, national origin, ancestry or status as a veteran. JobSource is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Meet Mandi, our very first residential scholar, has officially completed her Associate's Degree in Human Services! This fall, she's heading to Ball State University to study social work.

From day one, Mandi has shown what the Scholar House vision looks like in real life: a mom showing up for her education, her daughter, and her community all at once. Watching her walk across that stage is everything we do this for.

And she didn't do it alone. Mandi was surrounded by her Family Advocate, Sarah Badgley, Scholar House staff Jordan Hervey, fellow Scholar House moms Ashley and Sara, and Mandi's daughter!

Mandi, we are SO proud of you!

In 1988, my mom was a divorced mother of two with no degree and a $3,000 savings account. That money was supposed to be for my college... but she decided to spend it on herself instead.

It was the best gamble she ever made.

This Mother’s Day, I’m sharing the story of the woman who taught me what 'Heartland' really means. It’s a story of Shoney’s shifts, 12-hour nursing rotations, and the legacy that changed my life forever.

Help us support the next generation of moms who are working for their 'Full Circle' moment. Donate to our Mother’s Day Fundraiser here:

We are SO proud of Irene Rios, who is a part of our Muncie Scholar House fam!🎓

Mother. Scholar. Paralegal certificate in hand, and an associate's degree coming this fall.

At Ivy Tech's graduation ceremony, our Muncie Scholar House family got to cheer Irene on in person. Her academic coach Sarah Wenger and family advocate Michelle Heimlich were there, and Irene was so excited to see them that she grabbed her cousin for a photo with them before we even got one of her with her kids. That's Irene, always thinking of the people she loves.

From across the auditorium, we spotted her graduation cap. We snapped a picture and had an instant heart-melting moment.

Irene, we are so proud of you and cheering you on here in Anderson💛

Sometimes a graduation looks a little different around here.

For the past three years, Kate has been part of our family. First as an undergrad from Anderson University, then as a Masters student from Ball State and early on, as an intern for us! We got a front-row seat to all of it.

No job was too big. No task too small. She showed up every single time with a sweet, humble heart and a willingness that you simply can't manufacture in a person. You either have it or you don't.

Kate has it.

Congratulations on your Masters degree and on every hard thing you did to get there. We are your fangirls. Now and always. And we cannot wait to watch what you do next.

We love you, Kate. Go show the world. 💛

Mother's Day may be over, but the need doesn't stop on Monday.

Right now, there are moms at Scholar House waking up early, staying up late, and giving everything they have to build a better life. Not just for themselves, but for their children. They are doing something extraordinary, and they need people like you in their corner.

That's where you come in.
A gift of $22 to Scholar House doesn't just support a mom. It supports the child watching her. It tells both of them that their community believes in them, shows up for them, and refuses to let them do this alone.

It is not too late to be part of this Mother's Day fundraiser. One gift. Two generations. A ripple effect that lasts a lifetime.

Will you give $22 today? 💛

To every mom who is doing the hard thing, we see you. 💛 The late nights studying after the kids are in bed. The mornings when everything feels impossible but you show up anyway. The quiet moments when you wonder if it's all worth it.

It is. You are.

At Scholar House, we walk alongside moms who are rewriting the story for their families. One class, one milestone, one breakthrough at a time. And when a mom succeeds, her children carry that with them forever.

This Mother's Day, we celebrate every single one of them. If you've been looking for a way to honor the mothers in your life, and the mothers we serve, there's still time to give. A gift of $22 supports two generations at once.

That's the power of 2.
