This position maybe be mostly off-site and some travel may be required. 📢The Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariat is seeking temporary full-time position Indigenous Youth Coordinator!

❗️ The deadline for receipt of applications is 21 June 2026.

The Youth Coordinator of the Arctic Council Indigenous
Peoples’ Secretariat (IPS) is responsible for:

- Assist with Indigenous youth participation in the work of the Arctic Council and Permanent Participants’ capacity-building
- Facilitate coordination of the Permanent Participants’ Youth Network
- Assist with Indigenous youth participation in relevant events, such as the Arctic Youth Conference 2027
- Contribute to fundraising and project proposal development relevant to the work of the Permanent Participants and Permanent Participant youth in the Arctic Council
- Prepare relevant reports, briefs and background papers for the six Arctic Council Permanent Participants
- Contribute to IPS outreach and communication
- Assist the IPS Executive Secretary with relevant daily administrative routines.

Aleut International Association had the pleasure of meeting with Chair of the Senior Arctic Officials, Kenneth Høegh, and SDWG Chair, Camilla Olsen last month. We apprecite the opportunity to learn more from each other and discuss our common priorities and concerns.

We are looking forward to participating in the UArctic Congress: Healthy Humans and Oceans in the Arctic and the Arctic Council Kingdom of Denmark’s Chairship Event, Ocean Connectivity Conference in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands May 26 – 28, 2026. The themes for this congress are Sustainable Economic Development and International Cooperation, Oceans, Climate Change in the Arctic, Biodiversity, and Indigenous Peoples and Northern Communities.

Our environmental coordinator and youth delegate, Shankell Mack, will be a speaker in the session “Indigenous Leadership in Reducing Land-Based Sources of Pollution that Impact the Arctic Ocean” along with our colleagues from the Arctic Council’s Arctic Contaminants Action Program (ACAP). Our leadership, Okalena Patricia Lekanoff Gregory and Amy Foster, are also looking forward to the next round of consultations with the Kingdom of Denmark’s Chairship team to discuss the Arctic Council’s priorities and work during their second year as chair of the Arctic Council.
