It's Alaska State Fair time! Did you know that Golden Wheel Amusements offers a limited number of accessibility passes for parents, caregivers and support partners that are accompanying a person with a disability? The pass allows the support person to ride at no additional charge when riding with the person they are supporting. You can request a pass at the green shed in front of the roller coaster, but passes are very limited so be sure to check first. And don't forget to come and see us at the Embracing AK Disabilities Expo and check out the Shining Abilities Craft Fair on 8/24 from 11-4:30 PM on the purple trail.

Excited about the Alaska State Fair? Come say hello at the Embracing AK Disabilities Expo! We will be hosting a table with resources so come visit with some of our amazing navigators. While you are there - stop by the Shining Abilities Craft Fair and check out the incredible vendors. You'll find us at the event hall by the purple gate on Monday, August 24th from 11-4:30 pm.

Walking into SibShops, Callie remembers feeling so excited. "I was excited to learn and to play and to see the friends I had made." Now that she is the Youth Engagement Coordinator for SSG, she looks back and remembers what a good source of connection it was for kids to meet with others who know what their life is like. "It was nice to be with others around my age who understood. That connection was so important to me."

Sibshops are play focused support groups designed specifically for youth aged 8-17 who have a brother or sister with special needs, developmental disabilities, or chronic medical conditions. Sibshops are free and parents do not have to stay on site. Register for our upcoming Sibshop on Friday, August 21st or any of our future Sibshops on our website.
