There were some BIG smiles during recreation recently! ☀️💦

Thanks to a wonderful donor, our students got to cool off with a brand-new, extra-long slip and slide, plus sunglasses, water balloons and everything needed for an afternoon of summer fun.

A few reviews from our students:

💬 “It was soap much fun.”

💬 “It was very cooling. I hope school slides by fast too.”

💬 “Seeing my peers get along and be able to have fun on the slip and slide was really nice.”

And, of course, plenty of records were set for who could slide the farthest!

As a new school year begins, we’re sending our best wishes to students, teachers, staff, treatment parents, and families throughout our community.

To our students: Be curious, be kind, try new things, and remember—each day is a new opportunity to learn and grow.

To our teachers, staff, and treatment parents: Thank you for the many ways you encourage, guide, and care for young people.

The Land of the Midnight Sun brings long days, beautiful scenery, and plenty to do, but busy schedules and extended daylight can also leave us feeling drained.

A few reminders for taking care of yourself this summer:

🌿 Prioritize sleep, even when the sun stays out late
🌿 Balance busy days with time to rest
🌿 Give yourself permission to say no or slow down
🌿 Spend time in nature, even if it’s just a short walk or a few quiet minutes outside

By managing your energy and making time to recharge, you can enjoy Alaska’s summer while caring for your well-being, too.
