You can watch the veto override vote at 11am today!

The Alaska Federation of Natives expressed deep disappointment following the Governor’s veto yesterday of Senate Bill 64, legislation aimed at strengthening Alaska’s elections and improving access for voters across the state. AFN encourages Alaskans to contact their state legislators and urge them to support an override of the veto on Senate Bill 64. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/4cL6VsE.

🤝🏽 Passed the Alaska legislature with bipartisan support.

🗳️ Includes a variety of changes to the state’s elections system, paid postage for all absentee mail-in ballots, strengthened security protocols, and the ability for voters to fix or cure mistakes on their ballots.

👎🏽 Was vetoed by Alaska's Governor Dunleavy on Thursday.

Re-sharing from our friends at Get Out The Native Vote

ANCHORAGE: We’re looking for volunteers to help staff an all-districts early absentee voting site at ANMC, located in one of the SCF buildings, during the week leading up to the November 3 midterm elections. The Alaska Federation of Natives, the largest statewide Native organization in Alaska, applauds the passage of Senate Bill 64, a comprehensive election reform measure, and urges Governor Mike Dunleavy to sign the bill into law without delay.

Senate Bill 64 passed the Alaska House of Representatives by a 23 to 16 vote on Monday. The bill passed the Senate concurrence vote yesterday by a 16-4 vote. It will now go to the desk of Governor Mike Dunleavy to be signed into law. Hey Alaskans!

Do you want postage paid return envelopes for absentee ballots, additional staff to help with voting in rural areas, ballot curing to fix honest mistakes, a cleaned-up voter roll, and reports from the division on how they can improve access? Then the House Finance Committee and your legislators need to hear from you about SB 64.
