A lasting way to honor someone who served.

Dedicate a park bench along the Tribute Trail in honor of a veteran. Each bench features a custom plaque with the veteran’s name, branch of service and a personal message, creating a meaningful place to pause, reflect and remember their service for years to come.

The U.S. military has relied on canine units for more than a century. These highly trained four-legged service members have helped detect explosives, locate people, patrol dangerous areas and protect the troops they serve alongside.

Today, military working dogs continue to serve as brave and trusted partners — putting their lives on the line alongside our service members.

Each Legacy Stone at the Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute serves as a lasting reminder of the men and women who served our country.

Gray granite stones honor veterans.
Red granite stones are dedicated to those who were missing in action or made the ultimate sacrifice.

You may also notice coins left on some of the stones. This long-standing military tradition is a quiet way to pay respects. A penny simply means someone stopped to visit and remember, while other coins carry special meanings shared among those who served. The coins left at the Tribute are collected and donated back to support the Veterans Tribute.

Together, these tributes ensure that the service and sacrifice of our nation's heroes are remembered for generations to come.

Today, on National Purple Heart Day, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives while serving our country.

The Purple Heart is awarded to U.S. service members who are wounded or killed as a result of enemy action, making it one of our nation's most meaningful military decorations. Its history dates back to 1782, when George Washington established the Badge of Military Merit, the predecessor to today's Purple Heart.

Every Purple Heart represents a story of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering service. Today, we remember those who have earned this honor and express our deepest gratitude for the sacrifices they made to protect our freedoms. 🇺🇸
