The Altoona Compassion Coalition began as a vision at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. That food distribution program continues to grow. Thank you!

The mission of the Altoona Compassion Coalition as a community based, volunteer, nonprofit organization, is to provide food and other services to those in need in an efficient, compassionate and non-judgmental manner. It was inspired by the success of the Feed A Child Nyre You program where weekend meals are packed each week for up to 65 students in the Pedersen Elementary School. Research revealed there were several families in Altoona who experience food insecurity and must travel to neighboring communities for assistance. A task force was formed to look into providing a food pantry within our community. That initial effort resulted in the formation of the Altoona Compassion Coalition. The Altoona Compassion Coalition, as a community-based effort, operates a food pantry and continues to explore new ways to meet the needs of fellow citizens under the motto of "neighbors serving neighbors." The Altoona Compassion Coalition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. EIN 47-5364553
