On June 8, a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, causing widespread destruction across affected communities. The earthquake claimed dozens of lives, injured hundreds, damaged thousands of homes, schools, roads, and public buildings, and forced tens of thousands of families to leave their homes. Rescue and recovery efforts continue as communities face ongoing aftershocks and uncertainty.
Children are among those most affected. Many schools have been damaged or closed, families have been displaced, and access to food, clean water, shelter, and essential services remains limited in some areas.
