Last night GYPN members attended the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce Community Celebration. As member, Chelsea, shared, we were reminded of how much of a difference people working together makes. Each award recipient highlighted how people who supported, helped, and encouraged them enabled them to make a difference in the Gratiot community.

We are grateful to be growing in this amazing community we call home.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Golf 101 lunch and learn yesterday! We covered everything from scrambles and mulligans to course etiquette and confidence on the course, while making new connections and sharing a few laughs along the way. The biggest takeaway: golf outings are a time to support local organizations, so get out, network, and have fun! ⛳

Thank you to Adam Vibber of Century 21 Lee-Mac Realty for leading our learning session!

If you missed it, here are a few highlights:

1. Start with the basics of play
Most outings use a scramble format—everyone hits, you pick the best shot, and play from there. Decide your swing order, know your role, and focus on keeping things moving.

2. Learn a few key terms (you’ll hear them a lot!)
Mulligans = a do-over, FORE! = heads up, and “bogey max” keeps scoring simple. Knowing just a few terms goes a long way in feeling comfortable on the course.

3. Respect the course + pace of play
Fix ball marks on the green, fill divots, rake bunkers, and keep carts a safe distance away. If you lose a ball, limit your search to about 2 minutes to keep play flowing.

4. Focus on fun over perfection
Golf is tough—even experienced players mess up. Use a light grip, don’t overthink it, and enjoy the experience. Confidence builds with every swing.

5. Come prepared, but keep it simple
Bring cash for on-course games, wear comfortable shoes (tennis shoes are fine!), and don’t stress if you don’t have clubs—borrowing or sharing works just fine as you're getting started.
