This garden is grateful for the rain! It made our fall crops; peas, bok choi, broccoli, cabbage and more happy!

And it made the gardeners happy to see the rain collection system full for the first time since early June. It’s been a long, dry summer.

The garden is feeling sad.

When you help yourself to veg in the back portion of the garden: you are taking food from members of the community who paid to garden here. The back portion of the garden is for volunteers and allotment gardeners only.

It’s the last week before school begins; so the last week with our friends from Children's Discovery Academy. They have been incredibly helpful in the garden. We picked veggies and fed the compost bin, learned about how much our food weighs with our new scale and found insects!

We dropped off their harvest for the food pantry today. Tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes 😊

Our garden will continue to grow into the fall.

We’re delighted to be selected as an awardee for the MyMichigan Health Creating Healthy Communities - Together grant program, which supports “programs and projects that have a positive impact on health outcomes in each of the communities we serve.”

The grant will allow us to invest in materials that sustain the garden like compost and gardening tools. We’re grateful for support that allows us to do good work in the community!

Yesterday was an eventful day:

A donation of seeds (we 💗 carrot seeds on paper tape!) reminded us we have seeds to share!

Our friends from Children's Discovery Academy came to visit and pick veggies in time for Community Cafe later in the day!

A friend came to help sort through our seeds! Thank you 😊
