🚨🚨 HELP!!! We have a family that has had a fire in their home. Everyone is "ok", but they've lost everything. (I know this family personally, so it's even harder 😢). Here's a list of what they need: (others have obtained immediate "summer" clothing for the family - fall, etc is the need).

Girl, almost 11, clothing size 14. Shoes, women's 7, Could use leggings, jeans, skirts, hoodies, socks, un**es, pjs.

Boy, 6, clothing boys size 8, shoes, boys size 2. Could use lightweight pants/jeans, tshirts, socks, pjs and hoodies.

Mom, Woman's size XL. Dress clothes, jeans, shirts, shorts, socks, pjs.

Dad, Men's size XL, shorts, tshirts, sweatpants and socks.

I'm also collecting gift cards for Meijer and Lowe's. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, message me for details. Stuff can be dropped off on my porch (7150 Robinson, Allen Park) or let me know and I will be happy to pick up.

WOW! As you may be aware, we always look for ways we can "leverage" our support with partners. I was fortunate to come across Making Spirits Bright, and arranged for a collaboration to benefit Barth Elementary in Romulus.

This event was a HUGE success! Yesterday, every child was allowed to choose 5 books, and received a cool book bag to carry them in. (Note: these books are in ADDITION to the over 500 books JORY presented them!)

The pictures don't convey the joy and excitement these children showed. It was incredible to experience first-hand. Thank you to all that supported this project!

During Teacher Appreciation Week, JORY Childrens Foundation salutes teachers for the awesome responsibility they carry in educating our youth. Whenever possible, we try to assist teachers in our literacy outreach. Take a moment, send a note to your child's teacher(s). It will make their day.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated! What we thought was a lofty goal was met by all of you who participated in our Book Drive! Our official total of books collected is 518!!! The presentation to the school is in a couple weeks, so watch for pics to be posted then.

Rarely am I relatively speechless. Our book collection project, supporting and encouraging literacy in local schools, has reached its goal! I thought 500 books was a lofty goal...I certainly underestimated the power of the JORY community! Thank you so much for all that helped with this project. (Stay tuned, another great project coming soon!).

We'll post pictures of the books/presentations late next month.

WHAT A WEEK!! Our book drive is almost complete! Our goal, 500 books, is at 455 - 91% !! Collection goes through April 30. (We're collecting new/gently used books -- elementary aged kids -- below is a suggested list from Amazon that can be shipped directly to us. If you'd like to help, locally, by shopping local, just shoot me a message and we'll make arrangements for dropoff/pickup!)
