You weren't created to live according to someone else's blueprint. You have your own journey, your own purpose, your own dreams, and your own calling!

Stop waiting for permission to be happy. Stop explaining every decision. Stop shrinking yourself to make other people comfortable.
Life is too short to spend it trying to satisfy people who will always find something to criticize.

And understand this: Living your life doesn't mean you'll get everything right. It means having the courage to LIVE, LEARN, GROW, and KEEP GOING!

🔥 CLEAN YOUR HEART! 🔥

You can only pretend for so long! You can fake your loyalty, disguise your jealousy, hide your bitterness, and speak words that sound genuine, but eventually, your HEART will reveal your TRUE motives and intentions EVERY TIME!

You can fool people with your words, but your actions will expose what's really living inside of you.

God doesn't just see what you DO; He sees WHY you do it!

Before you ask God to change your situation, ask Him to examine your heart. Because a heart filled with envy, pride, manipulation, and hidden agendas cannot produce the fruit of genuine love.

A clean heart doesn't require a fake appearance!

Bonnie was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2021 after a misdiagnosis of chronic bronchitis. Her story is one of three perspectives about lung transplant that we've shared on our page over the last week. Thank you so much Bonnie for sharing your story!

🔹 My diagnosis

"I was told I had chronic bronchitis, but no one had ever done a scan of my lungs. When my cough became violent and my shortness of breath got even worse, I was sure I had COVID. Instead, a scan showed changes in my lungs, and I was told I needed to find a pulmonologist.

I was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2021.

For a while, I was on medications, and my pulmonary function test results were declining, but slowly. Then I had an exacerbation, and my oxygen needs jumped from 4 liters per minute (LPM) to 15 LPM. I was admitted to the hospital. I had already gone through a transplant evaluation, so transplant was something I had been thinking about. But I was still on the fence.

🔹 Why I hesitated

I was 70 years old, and I had lived a fabulous life. I don’t have children or grandchildren, so I kept wondering, “Is this just the time to be grateful for what I’ve had?”

I had talked about those reservations with my family and friends.
As I talked through the decision with my medical team, I began to think differently about what a transplant could mean for me. Other than my supplemental oxygen needs, I was otherwise pretty healthy and upbeat, and I started to feel that maybe I should give myself the chance to keep going.

It also helped to know that if two lungs did not become available, my doctors believed I could do well with a single-lung transplant because one of my lungs was much worse than the other.

🔹 Give yourself the option

If someone is unsure about a transplant, one thing I would say is go through the testing and give yourself the option.

My evaluation was very thorough. It involved about five eight-hour days of testing, along with pulmonary rehab and discussions about what transplant and recovery would involve.

Going through an evaluation doesn’t mean you have made your final decision. Along the journey, you can pause. You can change your mind. Even if you are listed, you still have choices.

I never really saw the downside of going through the testing because I wanted to be able to make the decision for myself if the time came.

Of course, things can go wrong with a transplant. I knew that. But I also knew things could go wrong if I didn’t have the transplant and my disease continued to progress.

🔹 Caregivers are part of the decision

I also had to think about the impact on the people who would care for me.

My brother and I lost our parents when we were very young, and we have always been close. I’m also very close to my nieces. When I finally said yes, I knew I had the full support of my brother and sister-in-law.

Since the transplant, my brother and sister-in-law have been trading off caregiving responsibilities. One of my dear friends came to care for me, and another friend is coming. It has been hard on them, too.

The caregiver piece is real, and it is important to think about before making your decision.

🔹 The call

On April 30 of this year, I got the call telling me to get to Houston Methodist Hospital within 20 minutes.

My transplant happened at 3 a.m. on May 1.

Ultimately, it came down to realizing that I still had more living to do and going through with a transplant was my answer."

Allison brings more than 15 years of strategic Human Resources leadership experience, organizational development, and a passion for empowering people and strengthening communities.

As we enter a NEW SEASON of GROWTH, EXPANSION, and GREATER IMPACT, we recognize that strong leadership, accountability, strategic partnerships, and a shared commitment to our mission are essential to building a sustainable legacy.

Allison's expertise and leadership will play an instrumental role in strengthening our organizational foundation, expanding community partnerships, and helping us create greater opportunities for the individuals and families we serve.

There comes a time in leadership when you have to recognize that leading doesn’t always mean holding the highest title. Sometimes leadership means knowing when it is time to make room for someone else to lead.

When I founded the Timothy D. Robinson Foundation Enrichment Center, it came from one of the deepest places in my heart. TDRFEC was born from love, loss, purpose, faith, and a determination to turn my personal journey into something that could help other people grow, heal, and thrive.

I have poured my heart, time, resources, tears, prayers, and vision into building this organization. I have watched something that began as an idea become a place where people can walk through the doors and experience community, education, support, empowerment, and hope.

And now, I believe TDRFEC has reached another important moment in its journey.

Today, I am announcing my decision to step aside as CEO of the Timothy D. Robinson Foundation Enrichment Center and entrust that leadership role to Michael A. Love

I want to be clear about something: I am not leaving TDRFEC.

I will remain the Founder, and I will continue to protect, champion, and help shape the vision and mission of this organization.

But being a founder and being a CEO are two different responsibilities.

As Founder, my responsibility is to keep the heart of this organization alive—to continue dreaming, building relationships, creating opportunities, developing initiatives, advocating for the communities we serve, and making sure that Timothy’s legacy continues to have an impact.

The CEO must be able to take that vision and lead the organization forward operationally, strategically, and organizationally.

I believe Michael Love is prepared to take on that responsibility. He has lived it!

Michael understands this mission in a very personal way. His own journey as a double lung transplant recipient gives him an understanding of perseverance, second chances, healthcare challenges, transplantation, and the importance of having support along the journey. But beyond his story, I believe in his ability to help lead this organization into its next chapter. 📣

This decision is also part of my own growth as a leader.

When you build something from the ground up, it can be difficult to release control. You become accustomed to carrying everything because, in the beginning, you had to. But an organization cannot grow to its fullest potential if everything continues to depend on its founder.

I don't want to build an organization that only works because De'Vona is in the room. I want to build an organization that will continue serving people for generations.

That requires leadership.

That requires structure.

That requires succession.

And most importantly, that requires trust.

So this is not me stepping away from my purpose.

This is me stepping differently into my purpose.

I will have the opportunity to focus more intentionally on the vision, partnerships, advocacy, fundraising, program development, community impact, and future growth of TDRFEC while allowing our CEO to focus on leading the organization and its operations.

Michael, I am trusting you with something incredibly precious to me.

This organization carries my husband's name. 💙❤️

It carries his story.

It carries the stories of families who have experienced pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, transplantation, caregiving, grief, and loss.

But it has also grown beyond our story.

Today, TDRFEC represents every person who walks through our doors looking for a place to belong, learn, heal, connect, and thrive.

I am asking our board, leadership team, volunteers, partners, supporters, and community to support Mike as he steps into this role.

There will be growth. There will be learning. There will be challenges. And there will be victories.

But through every season, our mission remains the same.

I started TDRFEC because I believed that pain could become purpose and that legacy could become service.

I still believe that.

And as Founder, I am excited to have the freedom to dream even bigger about what this organization can become.

So today isn't an ending.

It is succession.
It is growth.
It is trust.
It is legacy.

Mike, I am handing you the CEO seat.

And I am stepping fully into the seat that no one else can fill:

Founder of the Timothy D. Robinson Foundation Enrichment Center.

The vision continues.

The mission continues.

And I truly believe—

the best of TDRFEC is still ahead of us.

🔥 DON'T SHRINK TO MAKE OTHERS COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR GREATNESS! 🔥

🛑STOP DIMINISHING WHO GOD CREATED YOU TO BE JUST TO FIT INTO PLACES YOU WERE CALLED TO OUTGROW!

🔥 DON'T SHRINK to make other people comfortable with your growth.

🔥 DON'T SHRINK trying to save broken relationships that are destroying your peace, purpose, and progress.

🔥 DON'T SHRINK to accommodate someone else's insecurities. Their inability to recognize their own greatness should NEVER cause you to question yours!

🔥 DON'T SHRINK trying to make everybody happy while you silently sacrifice your own happiness.

🔥 DON'T SHRINK because your haters say, "You think you're all that!" Sometimes people who aren't where they want to be would rather destroy your motivation than develop their own discipline. Their lack of progress is NOT your responsibility!

🔥 DON'T SHRINK to be accepted by dysfunctional family members who haven't even learned to love, heal, or accept themselves. BLOOD may connect you, but it does not give anyone permission to continuously wound you. LOVE THEM, PRAY FOR THEM, AND KEEP IT MOVING!

🔥 DON'T SHRINK because people don't understand your assignment. GOD DIDN'T CALL A COMMITTEE TO APPROVE YOUR PURPOSE! What He placed inside of you doesn't require everybody's understanding or permission.

🔥 DON'T SHRINK to fit inside the limitations of small-minded people. Their vision may stop at what they can see, but YOUR DESTINY is connected to what GOD has already ordained!

HEAR ME CLEARLY! 📣

Everybody cannot go where God is taking you. Some people were assigned to a season, NOT your lifetime. Some relationships were lessons, NOT lifelong commitments. Some jobs were stepping stones, NOT your final destination.
And sometimes the very thing you're fighting to hold together is the very thing God is telling you to RELEASE!

You cannot receive what God has prepared for your NEXT SEASON while refusing to release what has expired in your LAST SEASON!

🛑STOP BEING AFRAID OF THE UNKNOWN! 🛑STOP FEARING WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE! 🛑STOP APOLOGIZING FOR GROWING! STOP ASKING PERMISSION TO BECOME!

God has SO MUCH MORE waiting for you, but your next level will require a different mindset, stronger boundaries, greater faith, and the courage to WALK AWAY from anything that continuously pulls you away from your purpose.

💜 RELEASE what is draining you.
💜 RESTORE what life tried to break within you.
💜 RECEIVE everything God has prepared with YOUR NAME ON IT!

THIS IS YOUR SEASON TO STOP SHRINKING AND START EXPANDING!

You weren't created to live beneath your calling, minimize your gifts, or apologize for God's favor on your life!

YOUR NEXT LEVEL DEPENDS ON YOUR RELEASE!

And remember this: YOU CANNOT WALK INTO YOUR GOD-GIVEN FUTURE WHILE REMAINING EMOTIONALLY CHAINED TO YOUR PAST!
