In response to the severe monsoon flooding, we launched a dedicated relief fund with an initial $10,000 goal. Thanks to your immediate generosity, we hit that target in just 4 days. But first responders on the frontlines still need support. To celebrate Candice’s birthday week, we are officially expanding our target to $20,000.

Where your money actually goes:
All proceeds are transferred on a weekly payout schedule directly to the Nepal Red Cross Society. Their on-the-ground teams are actively distributing clean drinking water, emergency shelter kits, and medical supplies to isolated families.

Because we use Zeffy, 100% of your donation goes directly to relief efforts with zero platform fees cut out. Plus, US donors receive an automatic tax-deductible receipt.

This Nov 1–13, 2026, join us in Nepal for a 13-day expedition that bridges community-led impact with wild backcountry trekking. 🗻

We’re starting east of Kathmandu, working alongside local builders on a project explicitly requested by the school’s principal. Together, we'll construct a permanent rooftop kitchen for the Kavre School for the Deaf—freeing up essential indoor space so 92 bright students finally have a quiet, dedicated classroom to learn and thrive.

Then, we fly west to Pokhara to hit the trail. Skipping the commercial tourist crowds, we'll trek the untamed Sikles Circuit, navigate exposed alpine ridges up to Kori Danda (3,800m), and stand at the edge of Kapuche—the world’s lowest glacier lake.

Deadlines:
➡️ Initial Deposit: $500 due September 1 (Registration Closes)
➡️ Final Contribution Due: October 1

Spot count is capped to keep our impact meaningful and team dynamics tight.

Travel hits differently when it’s directly requested by the community you're visiting. 🇳🇵

This November 1–13, 2026, Trek Relief is heading to Nepal for a 13-day expedition that combines meaningful community support with world-class trekking.

Here’s what the journey looks like:

✅ Volunteer Work: Partnering with the local community and builders to expand the Kavre School for the Deaf, building permanent facilities so students have dedicated space to learn.
✅ Trekking: You will walk exposed alpine ridgelines to Kori Danda, ascend to a spectacular Thulagi Glacier overlook, and drop into the valley floor to stand at the edge of Kahphuche—the world’s lowest glacier lake,
✅ Genuine Connection: Sharing warm meals, tea, and stories with local hosts and fellow travelers who quickly feel like family.

We focus on ethical, community-requested projects where local leaders direct the vision, and our team provides the resourcing and hands-on effort to make it happen.

⚠️ Key Upcoming Deadlines:

Sign Up: ASAP (spots are strictly limited)
September 1: Initial deposit / $500 raised
October 1: Remaining minimum contribution balance

What Does Ethical Volunteer Travel Actually Look Like? 💭

Trek Relief Founder Candice Young sat down with Amy Hager of RISE Travel Institute on The Rise Traveler podcast — and the conversation went deeper than most.

Candice unpacked the parts of volunteer travel that nobody really wants to say out loud:

➡️ Why the white savior complex is easier to fall into than you think
➡️ Why the most important thing a volunteer can do is sometimes step back
➡️ And why the community — not the traveler — is always the protagonist

"The biggest gift we are bringing is fundraising for these communities — for the things they are asking for. That is the whole thing."

This was more than an interview. It was a conversation about what it truly means to show up for a community — without imposing, without assuming, and without making yourself the center of the story.

This is what Travel with Purpose looks like. This is what ethical partnership feels like.

Clean Water Now Flows in Arkhangai — And You Made It Happen 🇲🇳

For years, nomadic families in the Arkhangai Valley traveled up to 17 kilometers just to fetch water from a river that turned dirty when it rained. Today, they walk 200 meters to a brand new deep well.

The same day the well was finished, families arrived with water containers. Over 400 people now drink directly from it. More than 1,000 benefit indirectly. In the community's own words: "Its dreams are coming true."

This was more than a well. It was a promise to a community that had been waiting years to be seen — and you are the reason it was kept.

Thank you to every donor, fundraiser, and supporter who gave from wherever you were in the world. Thank you, Trek Relief family. 🧡

With deep gratitude to our partners on the ground, FARM, for making this work possible.

Planting trees is easy. Keeping them alive for years to come requires long-term commitment. 🌳🇲🇳

As part of Mongolia’s national campaign to plant five billion trees and combat severe desertification, our team planted 66 native cottonwood trees in Arkhangai two years ago.

And we went back.

To see those saplings thriving, well-maintained by the local community, and growing strong proves that community-led environmental work endures long after the trip ends.

Even as we expand into new regions and new initiatives, showing up for our past projects remains just as important as starting new ones. 🫡

Volunteering in Mongolia takes you so far past the edge of any standard tourist map.

While working alongside rural communities to improve infrastructure and support nomadic families, you get to immerse yourself in the steppe lifestyle, exchange traditions with locals, and connect with travelers who share your drive to give back.

These are the kinds of raw, unexpected moments that completely reshape the way you look at the world long after you fly home. 🇲🇳✨
