As initial emergency support fades, families are left staring at an uncertain future.

We Are Going Back to Where Trek Relief Began 🇳🇵

Ten years ago, Candice walked into the Langtang Valley one year after the 2015 earthquake and was so moved by what she saw that she started a fundraiser. That fundraiser became Trek Relief. The community of Syabru Besi, the school we rebuilt across 14 expeditions, the relationships built over a decade, all of it rooted in this valley.

August 26th flooding took it all.

We could not plan a Nepal trip this November and look away from that. So we pivoted. We are honoring our original commitment at the Kavre School for the Deaf, and we are redesigning the trek to return to the Langtang Valley to witness what happened, walk alongside the community, and deliver direct cash relief in hand to displaced survivors at local monasteries in Kathmandu at the end of the trip.

Why we are returning to the Langtang Valley and how you can help Nepal right now.

When Trek Relief first began a decade ago, it started with a single trek into the Langtang Valley following the 2015 earthquake. After getting snowed out on our original route, we descended into Syabru Besi. Seeing the immense destruction, we adopted the local school and rebuilt it alongside the community.

Fast forward 10 years: recent severe flooding across Nepal has devastated the region, wiping out the school and forcing families from their homes AGAIN.

Here’s our exact two-part commitment for November:
1️⃣ Honoring Kavre Deaf School: Our primary volunteer commitment (Nov 2–4) is fully moving forward as planned.
2️⃣ Syabru Besi Relief Trek: We are shifting our trekking route into Langtang to work directly under local leadership, support displaced families, and pre-fund our major Giving Tuesday recovery efforts.

This Nov 1–13, 2026, join us in Nepal for a 13-day expedition that bridges community-led impact with wild backcountry trekking. 🗻

We’re starting east of Kathmandu, working alongside local builders on a project explicitly requested by the school’s principal. Together, we'll construct a permanent rooftop kitchen for the Kavre School for the Deaf—freeing up essential indoor space so 92 bright students finally have a quiet, dedicated classroom to learn and thrive.

Then, we fly west to Pokhara to hit the trail. Skipping the commercial tourist crowds, we'll trek the untamed Sikles Circuit, navigate exposed alpine ridges up to Kori Danda (3,800m), and stand at the edge of Kapuche—the world’s lowest glacier lake.
