We invite the public to explore the rich history of the Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area through engaging, student-led tours. Local high school students research historic sites and guide visitors through the stories, culture, and significance of SdCNHA—offering a unique, authentic perspective you won’t find anywhere else.

As part of the America 250 - Colorado 150 Initiative, the Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area will be sharing photos from the Library of Congress to highlight historic photographs featuring individuals and families from Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico.

These powerful images capture moments, traditions, and everyday life from our region’s past—but many of the people in these photographs remain unidentified.
We are inviting our community to help us honor them.
