We had a successful May Volunteer Workday!

This May's workday included constructing a rain barrel collection system for the residential duplex, planting flowers in the garden beds outside of the education center, planting seeds in the new pollinator garden on the south end of the Farm Park, planting tomatoes, and prepping the strawberry beds in the orchard. We extend our deepest gratitude to all of the wonderful volunteers who made it out to the workday.

We also thank the Alamosa chapter of the Women’s Citizenship Club for providing breakfast for the morning. If you’d like to join us on our next volunteer workday, they happen on the last Saturday of each month from 8 AM - 11 AM. Breakfast and coffee are provided, and a variety of tasks are offered to folks of all ages and abilities. Come work with us!

May is National Beef Month, a perfect excuse to celebrate Colorado ranchers and the unbeatable taste of local beef. We’re proud to work with our partners at Valley Roots Food Hub to bring you some of the best beef our state has to offer, straight from the pastures to your freezer.

When you stock up with us, you’re doing more than just filling your freezer. You’re supporting Colorado’s ranching families, preserving open landscapes, and helping sustain a vital part of our state’s agricultural heritage. Plus, with recent legislation focused on transparency and fair labeling, it’s never been easier, or more important, to know exactly where your food comes from.

This summer, it’s easier than ever to keep your kitchen stocked with local goodness. You can now add a beef box to your Summer Fresh Box order, so you get the best of both worlds: Colorado’s freshest produce and premium, locally-raised beef. But don’t wait too long—sign-ups for the Fresh Box program end Monday, June 1st.

Get your freezer ready for grilling season, support your local ranchers, and taste the difference that comes from knowing your food’s story. Join us and Valley Roots Food Hub this Beef Month and beyond!

Our April 2026 volunteer workday was a success!

Farm Park staff and volunteers celebrated Arbor Day on April 25 by planting twenty new ornamental trees around the park. A big thank you to all of the volunteers who attended and to the Colorado Tree Coalition for their generous tree donation.

We also want to thank the many folks who helped with delivery day – including LFC staff members Chris Padilla and Justin Prieto for their help with unloading the trees and community member Patrick O’Neal for letting us use his trailer. Thank you Adam Moore from the Colorado Forestry Department for his expertise and assistance during planning and planting. Finally, we appreciate Alamosa’s Safeway for their generous donation of water bottles to keep volunteers hydrated on planting day.
