The Frederick County Data Center Referendum committee has prepared a voter guide showing where the Frederick County Council candidates stand on the Data Center Referendum. All candidates seeking to represent Frederick County were asked if they support the Referendum, and support putting the Ordinance on the November ballot for a public vote. The candidates with a green check mark are supportive of the Referendum.

The Sierra Club Catoctin Group has endorsed Lara Westdorp for Maryland State Senate District 4! Lara is a small business owner, mom, wife, and lifelong advocate for wild spaces, clean water, and individual rights. Lara has consistently been involved in the Frederick County community, from sitting on local and state boards and commissions and assisting with local campaigns, to traffic mitigation efforts in her neighborhood.

Karen was first elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2014, and was elected to the Maryland State Senate in 2022. She currently serves on the Budget & Taxation Committee, the Joint Committee on Project Open Space & Agricultural Land Preservation, the Joint Committee on Pensions, and the Committee on Administrative, Executive, and Legislative Review (AELR).

The Sierra Club Catoctin Group has endorsed Corynne Courpas for Maryland House of Delegates District 42C! Corynne first came to Westminster to attend Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) and decided to make it her permanent home in 1977. Since then, she has worked to give back to the community that has given her so much. The central issues in her campaign include housing affordability, education, energy costs, and infrastructure planning.

The Sierra Club Catoctin Group has endorsed Jerry Donald for Maryland House of Delegates District 4! Jerry was born and raised in Frederick County, Maryland and was a social studies teacher in Frederick County for over 30 years. Jerry has been on the Frederick County Council representing District 1 since 2014. Jerry is running for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 4 to fight for more funding for the district's residents. These funds will help support critical projects in Frederick County, including the redevelopment of Brunswick High School, followed by new high schools in Middletown and Walkersville.

She currently serves as the Maryland State Retirement Agency Employer Services Education and Training Director. Karen is serving her first term as State Delegate for Frederick County's legislative district 3. Karen proudly gives voice to women, children, and other vulnerable Maryland residents who need a voice in government.

The Sierra Club Catoctin Group has endorsed Ken Kerr for Maryland House of Delegates District 3! Ken was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2018. He was re-elected in 2022, and is now seeking re-election to a third term. After his most recent re-election, Ken was appointed as chair to the powerful Government Operations and Health Facilities Subcommittee overseeing Cybersecurity, AI, State Procurement, Veterans Affairs, and Maryland’s 60 Hospitals.

Ken's concern for keeping families healthy, providing access to living wage jobs, improving transportation and infrastructure, promoting and protecting agriculture, keeping our friends and neighbors safe, maintaining what is already working, and fixing what is not has been informed by all of these experiences and more.
