Hey folks. We want to thank Harford County Government for granting us funding to do some big projects to educate the public this past year. We created a brochure, two outdoor exhibit panel and recreated the historic station sign. We have received additional funding for this year and will keep you posted on new items at the station.

Did You Know? đźš‚

Before White Marsh became the bustling community we know today, it was home to a railroad stop known as Cowenton Station.

Located along the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, Cowenton Station served local residents and travelers in the late 1800s and early 1900s, connecting eastern Baltimore County to Baltimore, Philadelphia, and beyond. Historic records show excursion trains stopping at Cowenton, making rail travel accessible to local families and businesses.

In 1911, the U.S. Geographic Board directed that the station be known as "Whitemarsh," reflecting the growing identity of the surrounding community.
Today, the station is gone, and many residents may not even realize it once existed. Yet for decades, this small railroad stop helped connect our community to the rest of the region and played a role in the growth of eastern Baltimore County.

❓Here's a question for our longtime residents and local history buffs:
Does anyone know exactly where Cowenton Station stood? Have any old family stories been passed down through the generations?

I'd love to hear what you know and help preserve another piece of District 5 history.
