🐾 Important Information About Feral Cats 🐾

We frequently receive calls asking us to take in feral or community cats. While we understand the concern for these cats and appreciate everyone looking out for them, PAWS of Grays Harbor is not equipped to accept feral cats.

Feral cats are not socialized to people and often do not adapt well to a shelter environment. Because of this, we encourage community members to contact organizations that specialize in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and feral cat management.

Resources to contact include:
• Feral Cat Project
• Local TNR programs and rescue groups
• Community cat advocates in your area
• Local veterinarians who may be able to provide TNR referrals

If a cat is friendly, injured, or appears sick, please provide details when contacting local animal welfare organizations so they can help determine the best course of action.

Some animals wear their hearts on their sleeves. Meg keeps hers tucked away until she knows she's safe.

Meg is a very special girl who is looking for someone willing to give her the gift of patience. New environments can feel overwhelming for her, and she'll need time to settle into a new routine and learn that she's finally home. But for the person who gives her that chance, the reward is truly priceless.

Once Meg feels comfortable and secure, her loving personality shines. She becomes incredibly affectionate, devoted, and eager to spend time with her favorite person. The trust she gives isn't given lightly, which makes it all the more special.

Meg would thrive in a quiet home where she can be the center of attention and enjoy a predictable routine without the stress of other pets. She may take a little longer to come out of her shell, but when she does, she'll fill your home with love.

Every shelter pet deserves a second chance, and Meg is no exception. She isn't looking for a perfect home—just the right person who will see the amazing companion she is and give her the time she needs to blossom.

🎉🐾 PAWS of Grays Harbor is Celebrating 53 Years! 🐾🎉

This month marks 53 years of caring for the animals of Grays Harbor and connecting them with loving homes. Since 1973, PAWS has been a place of hope, second chances, and new beginnings for thousands of dogs and cats in our community.

What started as a small effort fueled by compassion has grown into a shelter supported by dedicated staff, volunteers, adopters, fosters, donors, and animal lovers who believe every pet deserves a safe and loving future.

As we celebrate this milestone, we want to thank each and every person who has played a role in our journey. Whether you've adopted a pet, volunteered your time, donated supplies, attended an event, or simply shared our posts, you have helped make a difference in the lives of countless animals.

The pets in our care today are a reminder that our work is far from over, but with the support of this amazing community, we're excited for what the future holds.

A new group of singles has entered the villa... and they're all looking for their perfect match! 😻

These islanders have been working on their charm, perfecting their cuddle game, and practicing their best "pick me" looks. Now they're waiting for someone to sweep them off their paws and couple up for life.

Will Jack make a surprise connection?
Will Chipmunk and Squirrel find the family they've been dreaming of?

A huge thank you to the Aberdeen High School Carpentry Program for their incredible generosity and craftsmanship!

The students recently built and donated a beautiful table to PAWS of Grays Harbor, and we couldn't be more grateful. Not only is it a wonderful addition to our shelter, but it also represents the hard work, dedication, and community spirit of these talented young people.

Support from local students and educators helps make our mission possible, and it's always inspiring to see the next generation giving back in such meaningful ways.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is make sure an animal knows love before they say goodbye.

When this sweet girl came to us, she was lying alone in a puddle, soaking wet, covered in fleas, starving, and weighing less than four pounds. She was severely dehydrated and suffering from kidney failure. We fought for her every day with fluids, medications, special food, warm blankets, and all the love we could give.

For a while, she fought right alongside us.

But her little body had endured too much. As the weeks passed, she stopped eating, grew weaker, and let us know she was tired.

We couldn't save her, but we could give her something she may not have known for a very long time: kindness, comfort, and people who cared.

Thank you to everyone who donated toward her care. Because of you, she didn't spend her final days cold, hungry, and alone. She spent them safe, loved, and surrounded by compassion.

Her ending broke our hearts, but knowing she left this world feeling cared for makes the heartbreak worth it.

Rest easy, sweet girl. ❤️

Right now, PAWS of Grays Harbor is full. Every kennel, cat condo, and available space is occupied by animals who are counting on us for safety, care, and a second chance.
We know that reaching out to surrender a pet is often a difficult and emotional decision. We truly wish we could help every animal the moment help is needed. Unfortunately, with limited space and resources, we must carefully manage our intake process to ensure that every animal already in our care continues to receive the attention, medical treatment, and love they deserve.
If you need to surrender an animal, please:
• Complete the surrender paperwork: https://pawsgh.org/releasing-an-animal/
• Be placed on our waitlist
• Wait for acceptance and approval from our intake team
🚫 We are unable to accept walk-in surrenders.
The waitlist process allows us to responsibly care for the animals already at the shelter while preparing for those who will need our help next.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and compassion. Every adoption, foster home, volunteer hour, and donation helps create more space for animals in need. Together, we can continue giving homeless pets the care and fresh start they deserve. ❤️🐶🐱
