Christina Akwero Foundation (CAF) Uganda is a non profit community-based organization working in Gulu, Omoro, Amuro, Nanya and part of Pader districts, registered in 2014 and founded by Denis Steward Otim and Geoffrey Howard Okot. Christina Akwero was an HIV/AIDS positive mother of 5 children who past away on April 14th 2005. We, as her children, started the foundation in honor of our very hard wo
rking mother, who brought us up as a single mother as well as being a teacher. She was an inspiration to us all and we would love to keep her legacy alive, and to help other people in her situation. CAF Uganda is registered under 4 major pillars:
HEALTH
- Elimination of mother to child HIV/AIDS transmission and education of the youth on the high rates of HIV/AIDS prevalence in the districts.
- Strengthening community capacity in prevention and effective management of malaria in the districts. LIVELIHOODS
- Economic empowerment of vulnerable youth and women through Villages Saving and Loans Association (VSLA).
- Economic empowerment of vulnerable youth and women through improved agricultural practices. EDUCATION
- Support of vulnerable children in the rural primary schools with scholarships and other scholastics materials like books, pens, pencils, bags, mathematical sets and many others. PLAY THERAPLY
- Support children and rural communities through the play program including both children and the family living with HIV/AIDS and that not living with HIV/AIDS. CURRENT INTERVENTIONS
