🙏 A Moment of Prayers — BLIND FOOTBALL

We officially flagged off our Blind Football team today, Friday 4th September, ahead of the National Championship kicking off tomorrow, Saturday 5th, in Kampala — bringing together teams from Kenya and Uganda!

Gulu Cyclone were champions of the maiden 2023 edition, and after more than two years out of action, we’re ready to ROAR again! 🦁⚽

This time, we’re fielding young talent from our partner schools — Gulu Primary and Gulu High School — carrying the torch into a new generation.

Huge gratitude to Light for the World for their funding support through the Moving for Change initiative, launched by the adidas Foundation. This journey wouldn’t be possible without you! 🙌

MOVING FOR CHANGE, LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELDS ADAPTIVE SPORTS PROJECT. We just concluded a 5 days capacity building training for 10 community coaches (4 Female, 6 Male), they were taken through sports for development model through ASAs concept of reverse inclusion, coaches received detailed training on disability awareness, Barriers to inclusion, inclusive sports methodology of TREE and STEPS model, adaptation skills and safeguarding in sports. Thank you, Gulu People, for the love shown during the Unified 5k Race on Saturday 8. The event gathered 685 participants, including over 479 individuals with disabilities from Gulu District, Amuru, Nwoya, Lira, and Gulu city. Participants competed in the 5km and 100m races, demonstrating unity and ability through the power of sports. Special thanks to AdaptX for introducing the race to Africa and to for their support.

Moving for Change - Indeed we are moving the change participating in the first ever wheelchair Rugby Championship winning two games and losing to wales National team, we are set for semis on Thursday at Lugogo Mtn Arena Kampala eyes on the finals

Meet some of our consistent participants for the weekly school activities. Their commitment and love for the program is what motivates us to work hard to bring the priceless smiles on their faces.

Watching them build confidence and develop their abilities in adaptive sports is incredible to witness, and it reminds us why we do what we do.

We are getting ready for the upcoming National Wheelchair Rugby Championship, the first in Uganda's history. 🇺🇬 We are proud to represent Northern Uganda. We have a visiting team from Wales' national team. We are truly grateful to all our partners and supporters.

Last week, we had an inception meeting to launch the inclusive sports project that will aim to promote social inclusion among children and youth with disabilities in partnership with light for the world. The 3 years project will benefit children and youth with disabilities in Gulu City and Gulu District.

Here's to a future where every child has the chance to play, connect, and thrive. 💙
