Pamoja Environmental Focus (PAMOJA) is an environmental not-for-profit organization registered in Tanzania in July 2012 with Certificate of Incorporation Reg. No. 92451. PAMOJA focuses on environmental education and awareness targeting education for sustainable consumption, natural resources management and sustainable livelihoods that is also embracing community based microfinance approaches and climate smart entrepreneurship. PAMOJA works with communities to identify and apply viable and workable solutions on their day-to-day’s operational challenges in making surrounding environment suitable to support viable livelihoods and sustainable lifestyles on the stable environment. PAMOJA has an office in Njombe and Dar es Salaam.
OUR WORK
Creating opportunities and income for members of Tree Growers Association in the Southern Highlands
Pamoja Environmental Focus is engaged by Private Forestry Programme (PFP) to facilitate formation, training and mentoring Village Savings and Lending Associations (VSLAs) as well as providing support in establishing viable livelihoods among members of the Tree Growers Associations (TGAs) and SMEs in commercial tree planting value chain in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. PAMOJA work in 30 villages in Ludewa, Madaba(Songea Rural), Nyasa and Mbinga Districts in Ruvuma Region since June 2017 until December 2018. District in Njombe Region
The objective of the work is to strengthen PFPs partner TGAs and SMEs by substantially improving their access to finance and reducing their financial vulnerability to enable their commercially grown trees to grow to maturity.
Main tasks
To enable TGAs and SMEs form village savings and loan associations for them to raise internal capital for investment in income generating activities and social funds, and through which access to formal financial services will be secured.
To raise awareness about feasible income generating and business development opportunities, and strengthen member’s abilities to evaluate these opportunities. Provide mentoring support to those involved in income generating activities.
