TAMASHA VIJANA

TAMASHA VIJANA TAMASHA-vijana translates to “Celebrate Youth!” something that we are passionate about

TAMASHA Vijana Provides a critical youth perspective on all aspects of development and lobby for the inclusion of adolescents and young people as a whole and the most marginalized groups of young people in particular. This will be done through:

* Developing strong teams of young facilitators committed to promoting participatory youth development
* Sponsoring research, with young people in

to all areas related to youth, especially neglected and forgotten areas.
* Creating electronic networks of young activists across Tanzania, Africa and beyond to share experience and innovations.
* Using the media to promote public debate on issues relating to young people
* Bringing together innovative thinkers and activists to review ‘accepted wisdom and methodologies’ of youth development and publicizing their findings
* Setting and maintaining standards of participation and development of young people in all areas. Promote the learning and capacity development of young people through:

* Graded, participatory courses in aspects related to youth development (for example, life skills, peer education and facilitation, Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV prevention, environmental conservation, participatory action research)
* Livelihood and entrepreneurship programmes including social entrepreneurship
* Organizational development of youth organizations
* Communication programmes including use of media, with particular emphasis on lobbying, advocacy and communication for social change

Develop a ‘coalition for young people’ by bringing together and promoting the learning of all organisations and institutions working with young people and set and monitor standards for participation of young people in their organisations. TAMASHA has also trained a broad based of facilitators who are working along side with the team since its initial establishment in 2007. The main office is in Arusha, where TAMASHA is building a multi-purpose youth training centre to provide graded courses and intensive and interactive training to youth and people working with youth. TAMASHA is currently having an office operating from Dar es Salaam which is successfully managing all programmes and activities which are done in Dar es Salaam.
