We were pleased to join Mazingira Plus at the official launch of the Zero Waste Schools Network in Dar es Salaam, a meaningful platform bringing together schools, educators, students, partners, and environmental champions to advance zero-waste practices and sustainable solutions.

At the Mashariki Creative Economy Expo 2026, ECCT had the opportunity to showcase how environmental action can be transformed into creativity, enterprise and opportunity.

Through ๐—˜๐—–๐—ข๐—ช๐—˜๐—”๐—ฅ,we are reimagining textile waste, turning materials that might otherwise be discarded into beautiful, purposeful and sustainable fashion pieces.

A special highlight of the Expo was the meaningful exchange with legendary artist and humanitarian Yvonne Chaka Chaka, whose engagement with ECOWEAR reflected the growing connection between creativity, culture and environmental responsibility. Her appreciation of the story behind each piece reminded us that sustainable fashion is not only about what we wear โ€” it is about the choices, people and possibilities behind what we create.

We were delighted to participate in the Mashariki Creative Economy Expo, held from 18โ€“21 August 2026, where ECCT showcased our work in transforming textile waste into beautiful, sustainable Ecowear design pieces.

Yesterday, Yvonne Chaka Chaka stopped by the Environmental Conservation Community of Tanzania (ECCT) booth to learn more about the Ecowear Project and how we are turning textile waste into innovative and sustainable fashion.

Our Executive Director, Lucky Michael and Program Coordinator SaraMpanda๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ , had the pleasure of sharing more about the project and our vision for a more circular and sustainable fashion industry.

We were also delighted to gift her a beautiful Fahari Kimono from the Ecowear Shop. ๐Ÿ’š
