On 31 March 2026, BTCC President Marcelo Souza and Executive Director Claudia Lipert visited the Cho Heng Rice Vermicelli Factory in Nakhon Pathom, where they were warmly received by Mr. Sravut Vongsurakrai, Chairman of the Executive Directors; and Mr. Pawin Thepbanchaporn, Manager. Cho Heng Rice Vermicelli has exported a variety of products to Brazil for the past few years.
Marcelo and Claudia were introduced to Cho Heng Rice Vermicelli by Mr. Kraisin Vongsurakrai, Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand, and Secretary-General of the Thailand-China Business Council. Mr. Kraisin is associated with Cho Heng Rice Vermicelli because the business was created by his family when his ancestors immigrated from China four generations ago. Marcelo and Mr. Kraisin have been working together at the Board of Trade of Thailand for many years.
Established in 1929, Cho Heng — producer of the iconic Erawan Brand — has nearly a century of excellence in rice processing, manufacturing premium rice flour, glutinous rice flour, rice vermicelli, and rice stick products to the highest international quality standards. A true Thai heritage brand with a remarkable story.
A fantastic opportunity to strengthen ties with one of Thailand's most respected food producers and explore potential areas of collaboration.

Celebrating Songkran in Thailand is a lot of fun! But what is Songkran?

Songkran is Thailand’s traditional New Year festival, celebrated annually from April 13 to 15, and it symbolizes a period of transformation, purification, and renewal. The holiday blends deep-rooted spiritual traditions with high-energy public celebrations. And it was recently recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity!

The festivities typically begin with merit-making at local temples—such as Wat Pho or Wat Arun in Bangkok—where people offer food to monks, build sand pagodas, and perform the Song Nam Phra ritual of bathing Buddha statues with scented water to invite good fortune. Families also gather for the Rod Nam Dam Hua ceremony, a gesture of respect where younger members pour fragrant water over the hands of elders to receive their blessings.

These gentle traditions famously transition into massive, nationwide water fights in cities like Chiang Mai and Bangkok, where streets like Khao San Road and Silom Road transform into playful arenas filled with music, laughter, and revelers using buckets and water guns to wash away the previous year's misfortunes.
