Barwaaqo Voluntary Organization (BVO), in collaboration with NMID, held an Inspirational Meeting on Women’s Leadership, with a focus on women’s political participation, female candidates, and the role of women in media.

The meeting brought together women candidates, media professionals, and community members to share experiences, discuss challenges, and explore practical ways to increase women’s involvement in leadership and public decision-making, while also creating networking and mentorship opportunities among women leaders. Special attention was given to how women in media can support awareness, advocacy, and fair representation during the upcoming parliamentary and local council elections in Somaliland.

Organization (BVO), in collaboration with KNH, successfully conducted a comprehensive three-day training workshop on child protection, children's rights, and organizational child safeguarding policy.

The training brought together teachers, caregivers, and project staff committed to enhancing the well-being of children, particularly those with special needs. The training forms part of BVO’s broader strategic efforts to promote a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environment across Somaliland.

Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in in-depth discussions and practical learning on safeguarding principles, risk identification, and institutional responsibilities. Emphasis was placed on strengthening knowledge and capacity to ensure that all staff uphold the highest standards of child protection and rights-based programming.

This initiative represents a critical step in reinforcing organizational systems and policies, ensuring that every child under our care is protected, respected, and supported to reach their full potential.

from 24th to 25th March 2026 in Hargeisa, Somaliland.

The training brought together participants from
Waapo Organisation and Barwaaqo Voluntary Organisation (BVO), to strengthen their practical skills in food preparation, nutrition awareness, and effective demonstration techniques. The program focused on enhancing household resilience, improving dietary practices, and supporting sustainable livelihoods.

Using a hands-on, participatory approach, participants gained practical, applicable skills that can be transferred directly into their communities, contributing to improved public health outcomes and economic empowerment.

BARWAAQO Voluntary Organization (BVO), in collaboration with KinderNotHilfe (KNH), conducted a three-day training on Promoting a Child-Friendly and Inclusive Environment for Children with Special Needs in Somaliland.

The training equipped four school clubs with the skills and knowledge to lead continuous peer-to-peer awareness sessions within their schools. These sessions are designed to increase understanding of children with special needs, foster empathy and positive attitudes among students, strengthen peer support networks, and promote inclusive and child-friendly learning environments.

By empowering young leaders to champion inclusion, we are building schools and communities where every child feels valued, respected, and supported.
