🗣️ Loss & Damage Webinar - Speaker Spotlight

We are pleased to announce the expert speakers to the upcoming session of the Loss & Damage Webinar Series, hosted by the PEDRR-FEBA Joint Working Group.

🌍 Session - From lessons to action: Actions to avert, minimise and address climate and disaster related biodiversity and ecosystem losses.

🤝 The webinar will bring together a pannel of three global experts in Loss and Damage, who will provide valuable insights drawing on diverse policy, technical, and regional perspectives:

- Neil Aldrin Mallari is a Philippine biodiversity conservation advocate, science storyteller, and innovator whose work is rooted in social justice and inclusive, science-driven governance. With more than three decades of experience, he is widely recognized for translating technical environmental science into practical action, supporting partners to avert, minimize, and address biodiversity and ecosystem losses including climate- and disaster-related losses.

- Julia Rocha Romero is a Nature-based Solutions Advisor at the UN Environment Programme Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC), where she works in the Adaptation Section on advancing climate resilience and implementation at the national and subnational level. Her work focuses on supporting countries in integrating Nature-based Solutions into climate policy and planning, particularly in relation to adaptation, ecosystem resilience, and addressing climate-related loss and damage.

- Elisa Calliari is a Senior Research Scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) as well as is a social and political scientist working in the 'Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies' division at the CMCC Foundation within the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change in Venice.

This session will offer an opportunity to hear from these leading experts and explore key issues at the intersection of climate change, biodiversity, disaster risk reduction, and project implementation.
