The process of registering families has begun in locality, state, Sudan, in preparation for distributing food aid to more than 300 of the most vulnerable families, in partnership with Start Network

This step comes as part of humanitarian response efforts to ensure aid reaches those in need according to specific targeting criteria. Currently, families are being registered and beneficiary lists are being prepared ahead of the distribution process.

This intervention aims to support families affected by difficult humanitarian conditions and contribute to strengthening food security for the most vulnerable communities.



تم بدء عملية تسجيل الأسر في محلية #شيكان بولاية ، تمهيداً لتوزيع المساعدات الغذائية لأكثر من 300 أسرة من الأسر الأكثر احتياجاً، بالشراكة مع Start Network.

تأتي هذه الخطوة ضمن جهود الاستجابة الإنسانية لضمان وصول الدعم إلى المستحقين وفق معايير محددة للاستهداف، حيث يجري حالياً حصر وتسجيل الأسر وتجهيز قوائم المستفيدين استعداداً لعملية التوزيع.

يهدف هذا التدخل إلى دعم الأسر المتأثرة بالأوضاع الإنسانية الصعبة والمساهمة في تعزيز الأمن الغذائي للمجتمعات الأكثر هشاشة

In response to the fire that broke out in Umm Matarig village in North Kordofan, which caused significant damage to homes and loss of livestock, dozens of houses were completely destroyed, and hundreds were partially damaged, including more than 30 homes belonging to families of sponsored children with Plan International.
Plan International expresses its solidarity with the affected community during this difficult time. Our humanitarian response supported hundreds of affected families with food assistance, shelter materials, and other essential non-food items to help them cope with the impact of the disaster.

استجابةً للحريق الذي اندلع في قرية أم مطارق بولاية شمال كردفان وأدى إلى خسائر كبيرة في المنازل ونفوق الحيوانات، حيث دُمِّرت عشرات المنازل بالكامل وتضررت مئات المنازل جزئياً، من بينها أكثر من 30 منزلاً لأسر أطفال الكفالة لدى منظمة بلان سودان.
تعرب منظمة بلان العالمية السودان عن تضامنها الكامل مع المجتمع المتضرر في هذه الظروف الصعبة. وقد شملت استجابتنا الإنسانية تقديم الدعم لمئات الأسر المتضررة من خلال المواد الغذائية ومواد الإيواء وغيرها من المواد غير الغذائية الأساسية لمساعدتهم على تجاوز آثار هذه الكارثة.

On 8 March, Plan International organized a celebration in Dar Al Salam, North Darfur, bringing together women and girls from displaced communities under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.”

The event brought together community representatives, civil society organizations, teachers, and students who shared inspiring messages about the strength and resilience of women and their ability to overcome challenges and build a better future despite difficult circumstances.

The celebration also included activities at the Youth Club with girls studying English, where discussions highlighted the importance of girls’ education, equal opportunities, and women’s leadership in building stronger communities.

Participants emphasized that investing in girls’ education and ensuring women’s rights are essential steps toward creating a more just and inclusive society, where women and girls can contribute to positive change.

Together, we continue working toward a future where no girl is left behind.



بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للمرأة – 8 مارس، نظّمت بلان العالمية سودان في دار السلام – شمال دارفور فعالية احتفالية مع النساء والفتيات من المجتمعات النازحة، تحت شعار “الحقوق، العدالة، والعمل من أجل جميع النساء والفتيات.”

جمعت الفعالية ممثلات المجتمع، ومنظمات المجتمع المدني، والمعلمات والطالبات، حيث شاركن كلمات ملهمة أكدت على قوة النساء وقدرتهن على مواجهة التحديات وبناء مستقبل أفضل رغم الظروف الصعبة.

كما تضمنت الفعالية أنشطة توعوية داخل نادي الشباب مع الفتيات اللاتي يدرسن اللغة الإنجليزية، حيث ناقشن أهمية التعليم، والمساواة، وتمكين الفتيات، والدور الذي يمكن أن تلعبه النساء في مختلف المجالات مثل التعليم والقيادة والعمل المجتمعي.

وأكدت المشاركات أن تعليم الفتيات وضمان حقوق النساء هو الطريق لبناء مجتمع أقوى وأكثر عدلاً، وأن تمكين النساء يعني تمكين المجتمع بأكمله.

معاً نواصل العمل من أجل مستقبل لا تُترك فيه أي فتاة خلف الركب.

"We need the world to not forget Sudan."
This is the plea from our colleague Nahid Ali, on the ground with Plan International in Sudan.
She sees it every day: The world's worst humanitarian crisis, fading from global headlines while families struggle to survive.
But Nahid also sees something the headlines miss—the power of Sudanese women.
They are the first responders. The community organizers. The last line of defense for children.
They are running community kitchens with no resources.
They are sharing food when they have none for themselves.
They are standing tall despite losing everything.
At Plan International, we are committed to amplifying their voices. But voices need listeners. And listeners need to act.
Nahid calls on the global community to:

Yesterday, a drone attack on a school in Shukeiri village, White Nile State, killed 17 people – most of them schoolgirls. Other civilian infrastructure, including a health center, has also come under fire in recent days.
Schools must never be targets. Children should be safe in their classrooms, their communities, and when accessing healthcare.
Plan International is calling for the immediate protection of civilians, safe access to education and healthcare, and unhindered humanitarian access to support affected communities.


أسفر هجوم بطائرة مسيّرة على مدرسة في قرية شكيري بولاية النيل الأبيض عن مقتل 17 شخصًا – معظمهم من الطالبات. كما تعرّضت بنية تحتية مدنية أخرى، بما في ذلك مركز صحي، لهجمات خلال الأيام الماضية.

يجب ألا تكون المدارس أهدافًا للهجمات أبدًا. يجب أن يكون الأطفال آمنين في فصولهم الدراسية، وفي مجتمعاتهم، وعند حصولهم على الرعاية الصحية.

On ,8 March, a series of activities were organized in State in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, the General Directorate of Women and Family Affairs, Youth Advisory Panel, and protection partners: منظمة جسمار للأمن الأنساني- Jasmar Human Security , Alight, and Near East Foundation, with support from Sudan - United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

The program began with the inauguration of the Women’s Directorate building, attended by representatives from government institutions, UN agencies, and civil society organizations. This was followed by an awareness march through the city, ending at Saudi Hospital for Women and Obstetrics, where dignity kits and birth support supplies were distributed to mothers. Health workers at the hospital were also recognized for their dedication.

The event also included an awareness session on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) delivered by the gender team from Plan International. In addition, mothers of newborn girls signed a commitment not to practice female ge***al mutilation (FGM).

Activities continued with community awareness sessions and dialogues in safe spaces for women and girls and within targeted communities, alongside radio programs raising awareness about International Women’s Day under the theme “Giving Bears rewards.”

The event was officially held under the patronage of the Deputy Governor, with the participation of the Acting Director General of the Ministry of Social Development and the Director General of the Ministry of Health, highlighting the importance of partnerships and collective action to support and empower women and girls.



بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للمرأة – 8 مارس، نُظمت في ولاية كسلا سلسلة من الفعاليات بالتعاون مع وزارة التنمية الاجتماعية، والإدارة العامة للمرأة والأسرة ، المجلس الاستشاري للشباب، وشركاء الحماية: Jasmar Human Security Organization، Alight، وNear East Foundation، وبتمويل من United Nations Population Fund.

انطلق البرنامج بتدشين مباني إدارة المرأة بحضور ممثلي الجهات الحكومية والمنظمات الأممية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني، تلاه موكب توعوي جاب شوارع المدينة وصولاً إلى المستشفى السعودي للنساْ و التوليد حيث تم توزيع حقائب الكرامة ومعينات الولادة على الأمهات، إلى جانب تكريم الكوادر العاملة بالمستشفى.

كما شمل البرنامج جلسة توعوية حول العنف القائم على النوع الاجتماعي قدمها فريق النوع الاجتماعي في بلان العالمية ، إضافة إلى توقيع التزام من قبل أمهات الفتيات حديثي الولادة بعدم ختان الإناث.

وتواصلت الفعاليات عبر جلسات توعوية وحوارات مجتمعية في المراكز الآمنة للنساء والفتيات والمجتمعات المستهدفة، إلى جانب بث حلقات إذاعية للتوعية باليوم العالمي للمرأة تحت شعار "العطاء يثمر".

أُقيمت الفعالية برعاية السيد نائب الوالي وبمشاركة مدير عام التنمية الاجتماعية المكلف ومدير عام وزارة الصحة، في تأكيد على أهمية الشراكات والعمل المشترك لدعم النساء والفتيات وتعزيز حقوقهن في المجتمع.

Our team in Office celebrated on 8 March 2026 in partnership with the Development and Social Welfare Sector, the General Directorate of Women Affairs, and all protection partners in the state.

The event was held under the theme: for Women and Girls.”

The celebration highlighted the importance of promoting women’s rights, strengthening their role in society, and working collectively to protect women and girls from violence and discrimination. Representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, and protection partners joined the event, reaffirming their commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls.

Participants emphasized the need for continued collaboration to ensure that women and girls have access to their full rights and opportunities, and to build safer, more inclusive communities.



احتفل مكتبنا في النيل الأبيض، باليوم العالمي للمرأة في 8 مارس 2026، بالشراكة مع قطاع التنمية والرعاية الاجتماعية، والإدارة العامة للمرأة، وجميع شركاء الحماية بالولاية.

وجاء الاحتفال هذا العام تحت شعار:

Today, we raise our voices to affirm that respecting women and supporting their rights is a shared responsibility. Standing against violence and violations, supporting girls’ education, rejecting , and showing with women in conflict areas are all actions that reflect real courage and a commitment to building a more just and safer society.

We believe that Sudanese women are not victims; they are symbols of resilience and hope. Investing in girls and supporting their leadership is the path toward stronger and more aware communities. Therefore, we commit to being true allies to women, breaking the silence in the face of violence and working together to end gender-based violence, now not tomorrow.



اليوم، نرفع أصواتنا لنؤكد أن احترام النساء ودعم حقوقهن مسؤولية مشتركة. فالوقوف ضد العنف والانتهاكات، ودعم تعليم الفتيات، ورفض زواج الأطفال، والتضامن مع النساء في مناطق النزاع، كلها مواقف تعكس شجاعة حقيقية والتزاماً ببناء مجتمع أكثر عدلاً وأماناً.

On the ’sDay, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of in building societies, and we honor all women in who continue to demonstrate extraordinary strength despite the challenges imposed by the ongoingconflict.

From the streets of Khartoum to the villages of Darfur, millions of women bear the burden of conflict and its harsh impacts, while continuing to support their families and communities with a spirit of solidarity and determination for change. Despite being deprived of basic necessities like water, food, healthcare, and education, women in Sudan remain steadfast and work towards a better future.

In this video, Mohamed Kamal, Country Director of Plan International – Sudan, delivers a message of appreciation and solidarity with the women of Sudan, commending their resilience since the outbreak of the conflict and highlighting the challenges they face, from lack of basic needs to risks of gender-based violence. He also reaffirms the commitment of humanitarian workers to continue supporting women and girls in Sudan, calling for increased and concrete steps to protect their lives and rights.




في اليوم العالمي للمرأة، نحتفي بقوة النساء وصمودهن وإسهاماتهن في بناء المجتمعات، ونحيّي كل النساء في السودان اللواتي يواصلن إظهار قوة استثنائية رغم التحديات التي فرضها النزاع الحالي.

A Lifeline in the Heart of the Crisis

Our humanitarian assistance has reached in , one of the areas most affected by acute malnutrition. Behind this milestone lies a harsh reality, 5 out of every 10 children are battling severe hunger.

Despite serious security challenges and limited access, our teams worked tirelessly to deliver essential food assistance to thousands of people whom are in need. The distributed food packs, are more than just supplies; they represent solidarity with communities who have endured months of conflict and hardship.

While this support brings some relief, the needs remain immense. As the crisis in Sudan continues, humanitarian action remains critical to help families survive and restore hope.



شريان حياة في قلب الأزمة

وصلت مساعداتنا الإنسانية إلى قرنوي في شمال دارفور، واحدة من المناطق الأكثر تضررًا من سوء التغذية الحاد. وراء هذا الإنجاز يكمن واقع قاسٍ، حيث يعاني 5 من كل 10 أطفال من الجوع الشديد.

رغم التحديات الأمنية الكبيرة وصعوبة الوصول، عملت فرقنا بلا كلل لتقديم المساعدات الغذائية الأساسية للآلاف من الأشخاص المحتاجين. الحزم الغذائية الموزعة ليست مجرد مؤن؛ بل تمثل تضامنًا مع المجتمعات التي تحملت شهورًا من النزاع والمعاناة.

بينما توفر هذه المساعدات بعض الراحة، تظل الاحتياجات هائلة. ومع استمرار الأزمة في السودان، يظل العمل الإنساني أمرًا حيويًا لمساعدة الأسر على البقاء واستعادة الأمل

During his recent mission to Darfur, our colleague Arjimand Hussain witnessed the devastating reality facing children in Sudan , children without school, safety, or hope.

He saw a generation at risk of being lost. Millions of children are out of school, living in extremely harsh conditions with limited access to water, sanitation, and basic services , while humanitarian funding continues to decline.

His journey highlights the disproportionate impact of the conflict on women and girls, and the urgent need for stronger international action to protect children, prevent hunger, and restore access to education.
