💬 Stereotypes, stories, and... a ball of string? 🧶

Last week, we had an insightful discussion about gender stereotypes and their impact on healthcare and social services during the Open Care workshop.

We broke the ice with a simple game: we passed a ball of string around, each saying a word that started with the first letter of our name—then we went in reverse, trying to remember our colleagues’ words. Connection, energy, and memory put to work!

A short video and discussion cards helped us explore topics rarely addressed in everyday life, participants reflecting on their own biases and discovering new ways to overcome them.

The workshop is part of the OpenCARE project, implemented by EASI and co-funded by the European Union through the CERV program—Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values. 🌍

🌻 July brought us all together - younger and older - to discover what democracy looks like through the eyes of different generations and what it means to be an active citizen.

🔎 The four intergenerational workshops held as part of the Ties of Freedom initiative brought together 80 participants - children and seniors through stories, games, and interactive activities that sparked dialogue about democratic values, civic engagement, and community.

👥 We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partners for warmly welcoming us so these events could take place: Niciodata singur - prietenii varstnicilor, Asociatia CARP "Omenia" Bucuresti - Centrul de Zi, Centrul Comunitar Zi de BINE, and SCOALA GIMNAZIALA NR.28. Together, we created spaces where different generations connected, learned from one another, and built bridges through dialogue.

🕹️The Ties of Freedom Gaming Box was introduced for the first time today to its Romanian audience via the first intergenerational event! We are glad to showcase these dynamic instruments and advance the civic participation dialogue between older adults & youth.
